For the past few years I have been getting pain in my chest when I try to go to sleep at night. Sometimes when I drink water I feel like a watery feeling in my throat. If I burp it tastes just like the food I ate. I also been getting random sore throats with a lot of phlegm. Like one every 3 months. My husband says my cough sounds like my throat is dry and that I need to be drinking more water. I am also overweight which doesnt help (5’1.5 194lbs ). I was 210lbs about 2 months ago but I am stuck at 194lbs no matter what I do.
Does this sound like GERD? I know I should go to a doctor but I hav ..read more

Interested to know what the cause of your reflux was if you didn't have a hernia or bacteria infection and a clear endoscopy?
Was it a food allergy? Gluten? Milk? Was it as simple as giving up smoking? Was it constipation?
Has anyone had treatment via an osteopath? Iv heard they can be beneficial with manipulating the organs into the correct place?
Look toward to reading your reasons!!

Hey y’all. I’m a 52yo man who just weaned off pantoprazole after 3.5 years (first 2 years were 40 mg/day, then 20 for about a year, then 10 — all dosages were effective … stomach pain wasn’t too bad even when I took 10mg every other day).
I’ve been off the med for almost two weeks now, but lately I’ve had indigestion pain after everything I eat (today I had it even after drinking kefir).
Is this normal? Will my gut eventually settle down? I’m willing to give it another couple of weeks, and I’m trying to increase my exercise. I guess the good news is that the indigestion is helping to lower my ..read more

I’ve been doing a lot of research and recently read the acid watcher diet. I’ve learned a lot about how acid reflux works and how a big part is caused by pepsin. But what I can’t find out is can you actually remove it? If I have a high PH diet will the pepsin in my esophagus and throat eventually die out? Or now that the pepsin is there will it stay for life, and even after years of an acid watchers diet, if I ate something acidic they would be activated again?
One day I hope to return to ‘normal’, but I’m not sure if that’s possible. Does anyone know anything about this?

I swear my reflux symptoms are becoming so strange. I occasionally deal with shortness of breath/air hunger. It’ll feel like theres this pressure on my stomach that won’t let me take a full breath BUT i noticed that if i walk around for awhile I can eventually take nice full breaths. On days where I am very active I don’t have the shortness of breath issue at all. I have no idea why this is. (let me preface i’m not overweight and am semi active; trying to increase it) Now as for the mucus issue, i get this occasionally. I actually don’t think I dealt with this until my symptoms got better so ..read more

Ugh does anyone else’s GERD cause a sweet taste in their mouth? It’s been constant in mine for about 3 weeks. I take my pantaprazole and famotidine every day. I don’t understand what is going on. Now I’m have sharp upper back pain also. I can’t eat much. And when I do I immediately feel bloated. I’m dying here. I’m so uncomfortable. ? ?

Ive been diagnosed with GERD for over a decade but never was quite sure that was my problem. Ive questioned the diagnosis to multiple doctors multiple times but always get shrugged off. So I'm curious if other people have symptoms similar to mine. Whenever I get "attacks" they are very episodic, I will go one or 2 years with no symptoms then anything I eat for a week sets off my ststomach. I've never had typical heart burn either, instead I get debilitating stomach/abdominal pain and bloating. Omep doesn't really make a difference. My go to fix is lying down with an icepack over my entire abd ..read more

I fell asleep last night after eating later than usual. I had my bed adjusted to an incline but when I woke up, my SO had lowered it. I’m in tears. I’ve been drinking liquid antacids and chugging water. I’m exhausted and have a 10 hour shift tomorrow. It feels like a hot poker searing through my stomach.
