I started taking mastic gum for H. pylori, which was found in a stool test. I had no symptoms and did not know I was infected. When I take mastic gum, I feel very nauseous. I know that nausea is an H. pylori infection symptom. So I am wondering if I am having a bad reaction (nausea) to mastic gum. Can GERD cause nausea and a constant feeling like you are choking in your throat? I feel nauseated and full all the way from my stomach to my throat. For the past 3 days..all I have eaten is bread, crackers and applesauce. Still feel yuck and like my throat is uncomfortable and tight. Went to doc today. She took blood to check for infection. I was prescribed cholestrymine and Gaviscon advanced both of which have as inactive ingredients alginate which comes from brown seaweed. I am severely allergic to shellfish and iodine contrast. I do not know nor can anyone in the pharmacies tell me if because I am allergic to shellfish can I be allergic to alginate.
