Hi, So I thought I was going pre med but then I later realized in college I want to do law. I got W’s in my pre med classes, specifically 3. However, I am not doing well in my psych class now. Would it be bad to take the fourth W? Does it decrease my chance of law school now. 6 posts - 6 participants Read full thread ..read more

Lsat - Use Score Preview to Cancel Score or not?

Hi, I took LSAT for the first time and got a disappointing 164. Need to decide quickly whether to keep or cancel score. Did not do much study, so very likely I can improve the score significantly. My goal is University of Colorado Boulder, unless I get into the 175+ range in which case I’d look at out-of-state top schools. Should I cancel the score or keep it? Reasons to keep: It’s a median score, so I might get in with it. Always possible I’d do worse on a re-take. A cancelled score looks bad? Logistically, it’s really hard for me to take another test before this admissions cycle ends, so tha ..read more

Where to start… I dropped out of high school in 2004. Got a GED in 2005. Started and stopped community college in 2007. Join the Army, got med discharged by 2008. Early separation, no benefits. Worked full-time while I went to community college on and off between 2010-2013 wracking up only C’s, D’s, and F’s. Worked in different office jobs with growing responsibility. Matured. Got married in 01/2020. Retuned to school Summer 2020. First born 10/2020. Second child born 05/2023. I’ve stacked a crazy number of classes, 21-26 units during full semesters and 15-18 each summer. I will complete my de ..read more

I have one year of full time work experience and am considering shifting to part time for 1-2 years to devote more time to the LSAT. Would this negatively affect admission chances? I will be applying to part time law programs, if that makes any difference 6 posts - 6 participants Read full thread ..read more

USNWR Law School Rankings (For what it's worth)

I just came across the new USNWR law school rankings. I am surprised they haven’t been posted before this. In any event, I am not advocating etc, but just posting the link. One question: since Georgetown Law, I think, has dropped a spot to 15, will we now refer to the “top” law schools as the T-15 rather than T-14 ? Enjoy?! https://www.usnews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-law-schools/law-rankings 14 posts - 5 participants Read full thread ..read more

How important is undergrad institution in Law School admissions

Here’s my situation. I chose to attend UT (specifically Mccombs, the business school) b/c it was a solid 50k a year less than out-of-state options, and I wanted to minimize the amount of money I have to borrow for law school. Mccombs isn’t a bad school by any means (around 7th in the country for business undergrad, 19% acceptance rate) but it lacks the name recognition that traditional top private schools (HYP, cornell, stanford etc.) have. I’ve heard a ton of different takes on the role undergrad name plays in law school admissions (many on this forum), from people saying it doesn’t matter wh ..read more

Is this a good law school personal statement?

P.S. - I’m a senior in high school, so law school is a long way off, but I’m absolutely sure I want to go to law school so might as well plan ahead… Anyways, I was wondering if this idea would go to far, or if it would be really great response to something like “why do you want to go to law school?” So, when I was 16, I got into a car accident that wasn’t my fault. (I was also 2 months into having my license). I still got a ticket for it, the police work was iffy. A couple months later I got sued for it. A MILLION DOLLARS! So my family and I go through the process of having an attorney, a depo ..read more

Hi all, I need some advice. I got accepted to two tier 4 schools. I got a 145 on my lsat and 3.01 for my gpa. I really don’t want to wait another year for law school, but a lot of people are telling me it would be worth it. Should I attend the tier 4 school and do my best to get good grades and transfer out? 7 posts - 6 participants Read full thread ..read more
