I just found out I failed the bar exam and have to re take it in July. I was dreading the results, I knew this was going to happen, I did not feel prepared going into it at all. My friend who had to re take the exam swears that Marino Bar Review is what got him to pass, he's urging me to use that program. But I am sort of thinking that if I just do the free re-do of the same bar review company I just used (Barbri) and spend more time on doing practice questions and not waste time watching all the lecture videos, maybe that will be enough for me to pass. Any advice from someone who has passed a ..read more

I had a 3.5 cumulative GPA from a state college but a 3.8+ Graduate GPA from an Ivy League.
Is there a chance that my graduate GPA can balance out my lower Undergrad GPA in law school applications or are they mainly focused on Undergrad GPA + LSAT only?
Is there a chance of getting into a top tier law school (Ivy League level) with a: 3.5 undergrad GPA, 3.8 grad GPA, average LSAT score?
Thanks ..read more

I read the other thread where a poster was interested in legal academia. I am in a similar position but am specifically interested in teaching legal writing (no interest in doctrinal positions). I have a JD from a T14 school, and a graduate humanities degree. I also have university teaching experience, though not in legal academia. A few publications in my previous academic career, but again, no legal publications. I am really after a permanent legal writing teaching position, with hopefully some opportunities to do clinics after I have been at the school for a bit.
I am currently ..read more

So when I entered my undergrad, I was strongly thinking that I would look for a career in the social sciences. I went to Hampshire College, which has an "experimental" structure where you have to design your own area of study, you receive written evaluations instead of letter grades, and your final year is primarily spent working on a project of some sort rather than taking classes (I still took two classes each semester, but spent the bulk of that time working on a 70-page research thesis). In addition, I was able to take classes at the other colleges nearby (Smith, Mount Holyo ..read more

I’m essentially daydreaming about where I could be in the next decade and I’ve decided to casually look into art law. I’m interested for many reasons that I won’t divulge, but I’m largely already considered a young leader in my specialized field and think getting a JD and focusing in variable/complex media art law could be interesting.
Anyway, what are the best programs for art law and why?  ..read more

Hi all, quick question. I'm a spring semester senior philosophy major hoping to (maybe) apply to law school this upcoming cycle. GPA is 3.75 and LSAT is 171. My college has a policy that you can choose to take (I think up to four) courses pass/fail if it's likely you're not going to do well in it, or if you had some kind of extenuating circumstance. I'm trying figure out how negatively -- if at all -- having two of these on my transcript would affect my applications.
At the very beginning of my freshman year I elected to take an intro geology class pass/fail (for some reason was the absol ..read more
