A carnival atmosphere greeted the six Ely triathletes who made up two teams in this year’s Bedford Team Relays.
Knowing there are no hard and fast rules around transition and having lots of time to recover and chat between the three legs makes a big difference to how relaxed this event feels, but the jovial disposition of team captain Will Gladwin, Mike Hendry’s genial loquacity and Hannah’s fantastic chocolate brownies had their own impact too.

The Ely Tri Club Runfest is back for 2024!
It offers a choice of distances ranging from 10k to 66k, all of which start and finish at the iconic 11th century cathedral before taking in more of the beautiful historic city of Ely and heading out into the Cambridgeshire countryside.
Most of the course involves quiet, traffic free paths along the banks of the rivers Great Ouse and Cam and their adjacent fens (there’s only one short, gentle climb through Cherry Hill Park in the entire race).
