I am watching Gourmet Holiday and Mary Beth is presenting the Vintage Wine Gaze.  She has mentioned before that she doesn't drink.  I found it interesting that she drank some.  I don't find it annoying I just am mystified.  Maybe because it's not all 100% wine ..read more

Last night I watched a recording of a recent L&L show with Jayne Brown and the new L&L rep.  Jayne is one of my favorite hosts and the new rep is knowledgeable and does a good job... though I do caution her to be careful about speaking over the host.   During the show they took two or three customer phone calls. I watch very little QVC these days as I'm minding my budget carefully, but I thought they had eliminated the phone calls. I'm one who actually enjoyed the calls because I inevitably hear something that blows my mind. The caller on this show did not disappoint.   ..read more

CRISCO USING BUTTER OR PLAIN WHITE....the difference is....

I did not know that butter flavored Crisco has an earlier expiration date than does the plain Crisco. BTW, the expiration date is on the bottom of the cans.  I usually used the butter one, but I noticed that even tho most of the can was used and I hadn't had it too long ( or so I thought ) some of the Crisco schmears that were left on the sides were smelling  a bit rancid. So I went to the grocery store to purchase another can. I checked the exp. dates of both butter and plain. Sure enough, the exp. date on the plain Crisco was of a later date. So, from now on I will buy the plain wh ..read more

They look like large flat cookies, and i filled the openings almost to the top.  I got eighteen mini loaves, four medium loaves, and eight muffin tops from a tripled recipe.  the next time, I will overflow the batter, will also try different recipes, but may need different pans for the effect I want.   All are delicious ..read more

How to keep liquids cold in Primula tumblers

I bought the recent TSV offering of a set of 2 40-ounce Primula tumblers and am finding myself disappointed so far. Mark Charles stated (in one of his many presentations) that cold liquid would stay cold, with no ice melting, up to 24 hours and well past. Well, I've been experimenting and can't even come close to these results.    Today I did as the instructions suggested--I put cold water in the tumbler and let it sit for 5 minutes (actually I let it sit longer than that and placed it in the fridge). I then empited it, filled it with ice and water, and closed the lid. Not even ..read more
