I've been a deer hunter for over 40 years here in PA and recently took an interest in bird hunting.
I think my interest was boosted when I found a beautiful early Winchester 101 in 20 gauge.
This was a grail piece for me ever since shooting one that belonged to the father of a friend back in the mid-80s.
I fell in love with it but never thought I'd find one.

I recently finished my first season of hunting with my 1.5 year old lab and wanted to get into woodcock and grouse hunting, I have never gone after these just state stocked pheasants and preserve chukar but want to get her on some wild birds between trips out west. Hey y'all,
With the recent new hope found in the bobwhite restoration in Franklin Co, I was wondering how far the compound is from the site where pheasants are present in the Franklin WPRA. I have read that the population trend in the Franklin WPRA is very promising, but they are somewhat confined to a very small handful of farms just south of Mercersburg. There are those that believe the wild pheasant in Pa. is extinct, this is just not the case. While the numbers are just a fraction of what they once were there are still wild populations out there.
