Hi the stone wall has had a dark wash added so it gets in all the gaps and between the stonework. This will be weathered more using various powders.

In my search for goof-proof track, and having abandoned otherwise excellent Hornby set track, at no small expense, I hit upon easy to use, generally hard to louse up, Bachmann-EZ track. Regrettably, I did not count on the oversize flanges of my cherished old Triang and Hornby OO fouling the frogs on crossings, although they would traverse turnouts without complaint. So, with the help of a Dremel tool I ground out the frogs, and to my relief, the old Lord of the Isles made it through just fine, now. I'd really hate to shelve her as the Lord of Aisles. Those hinges need spacing up from the baseboard by AT LEAST the height of the rails, otherwise the track will be damaged when the flap is lifted.

Making some progress at last! I have taken your advice and completely reworked my Baseboards in Ply and I have to say it was much easier to work with than the Fibreboard stuff Hornby and Peco suggest in their literature. Whilst this all looks fairly boring at the moment it's a sort of testbed for the new skills that I am trying to learn. I have put a trap door in on the bottom right of the photo so that I can access the track more easily (old bones and all that) and dreading trying to cut and wire later! Layout has track laid and DCC bus wired up [nearly without fault] and currently has my Class 08 doing circuits to run it in. That just leaves the sensors to wire up, they’re already in situ and points to fit and wire up. R-
