Hi all I'm another older enthusiast returning after 45 years now I have the time and a bit more pocket money. I may have some really dumb questions so please be patient - I'm trying to find out everything I can on YouTube and here. I've designed my layout which has two main loops and a siding section, so I think I need three separate power supplies to the layout, one for each loop and one for the sidings. My really dumb question is: what actual power controllers do I need ? Would one... Power controllers ..read more

This is my first post in the 'grown ups' section of the Forum so at the risk of the total novice teaching grannies to suck eggs ... I actually made this two years ago and it's been in place on the layout ever since but has only used for testing. Now the unfinished layout is about to be broken up after a house move which will give me a dedicated railway room in which a small terminus/fiddle yard layout will be the 'upper' of a two level layout, i.e. two separate layouts. The original aim... A turntable for the fiddle yard ..read more

The worst part of this thread is just bellow ! My smaller and very personal version of this famous layout. Maybe just another crazy idea ? As usual, all your comments, advices and criticisms will be greatly appreciated. You can also laugh if you want ..read more

Hi readers. I was going to post this in [2mm/N Gauge] but the site guide designates that as a Anglo-American category so, anyway... Having acquired a Kato EMU via greedybay, I'm in need of a couple of bits before facing the ordeal of trying to reassemble it. It's a German catenary 3-car EMU class 430 (two 430s with a 480 carriage in the centre). I've tried a couple of UK Kato stockists but both responded with 'Sorry, without the part numbers...' and I've yet to receive a reply from Kato... Kato parts identification ..read more

Good afternoon one and all, My humble apologies for my lack of attendance on here, many health issues have occurred to me. So, my question or two to you all is that I would to try and fit sound decoders to some of my locomotives. I did contact Roco for help with assistance in getting the right Sound Decoder for my Roco BR80’s. Their reply / response was to say the least extremely unhelpful ! I also wanted to see if it was possible to fit Sound Decoder’s too two of my Brawa items, a... DCC Sound ..read more
