Our Stories Our Justice campaign has launched! This is a participatory storytelling project “centering individuals and their communities in a collective effort to (re)produce oral and visual histories that shine light on a continuum of radical leadership by BIPOC women.”

DENTON, TEXAS – The Denton Black Film Festival wrapped up its 10th year, topping more than 12,000 attendees and recognizing some of the nation’s top independent filmmakers.
The festival also featured a gaming competition with nearly 500 attendees including Xbox, Gearbox, Epic Games, Robot Entertainment, Maverick Gaming and more.
Attendees from around the nation attended 85 films, three art exhibits, a gaming event, live music, spoken word poetry slam, and master classes, workshops, and panels to help creatives hone their craft.

All showcasing talented storytellers who with passion and creativity shared their films with our audiences. Among these selections the DBFF Film Team ratings resulted in finalists from which the Competitive Jurors selected the Best and the runner up in each category.

In January 2023, the Denton Black Film Festival showcased 98 exceptional films. With such a wide array of genres to choose from, we divided the films into 8 respective film blocks to make it easier for our guests to navigate our plethora of screenings.
