Tokyo     The day started with a sleep-in until 9am - I arrived in Tokyo last night and at the hotel by around 9.30pm. Deciding to do whatever it took to fly into Haneda was a great decision. It meant having to make the trip in two legs instead of a direct flight (Melbourne to Sydney to Tokyo) but the trip then in a cab from the airport to hotel only took about 15-20 minutes. I booked a cab through booking.com as I was a bit nervous about finding my way through the airport and unsure as to the availability of taxis on demand. Haneda was so much easier to get through than my on ..read more

We have been abroad for quite a few Anzac days and been involved in some ceremonies. They have been very moving and on one particular one in South Africa at a bush camp an almost joyous occasion. The staff at the game park thought it was a celebration rather than a commemoration, and surprised us, we all just couldn't  help but join in with their eagerness to show us a party. We said thank you and explained the occasion, had a solemn ceremony and then afterwards had a wonderful breakfast. They now know and appreciate what it means. Thinking back it also showed that there can be some joy a ..read more

Hi All,    We're disembarking our cruise on Boxing day 26 Dec 2024 in Sydney OPT We will probably be off the ship 9-9:30am? and our flight doesn't leave Sydney until 5:45pm Our plan at the moment is to get train / princess shuttle bus to the airport, drop our bags off (check in?), then go from the airport to somewhere for shopping / sightseeing. Is there any mall / shopping centre close-ish to the Airport? could we go to Birkenhead point factory shops from the Airport? or is there anywhere else we could easily get to from the Airport?   any advice would be appreciated ..read more

Pacific Explorer 3rd April-15th April   Ships getting very old and tired but was good to cruise on a smaller ship for a change. The main Pro to this cruise was Freo -Freo and the fantastic weather this trip always offers.   The Cons were plenty though lol The sheets and quilt in our balcony cabin had blood stains first day and we requested them changed but linen throughout the cruise had stains that obviously could not be washed out and should be replaced.   The food was well Just OK and got a bit boring towards the end of the cruise with menus never seeming to change much. Princess upgrades
Cruise Critic » Australia & New Zealand Cruisers

Hi all, when offered for a cruise a few months away, we're considering putting in a low bid for a cabin upgrade. We're fussy about location so when we originally booked we specified a particular cabin number and ticked the "no upgrade" box.   As I understand it from CC, you bid for specific cabin categories, ie MB or ME (rather than randomly from balcony to mini) - is that correct? We'll be on a ship that has the new-fangled skywalk so definitely wouldn't want a cabin by or under the skywalk, which would be a different category code anyway.   Because successful bids are final, do you ..read more
