Hi! I want to use IFTTT but I don't want to activate myQnapCloud. I talked to support and they said it's 100% safe if I don't forward any ports. What's you thoughts about that, is that correct? submitted by /u/Professional_Chart55 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Share a folder from one QNAP to another

Hello! I have 2 QNAP 470 Pros. I'm running Plex on one and I'm curious if I can set up a mapped folder on the Plex QNAP like I would on a windows PC. There is a lot of information on how to create a shared folder on a QNAP (which I've done a lot), but I'm unsure how to access a QNAP share from another QNAP. I'm not looking to sync folders. I want to expand the storage of my Plex library using the second QNAP. These two units are on the same network. I appreciate any advice you all may have. submitted by /u/MarketyMarky [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I have a QNAP TS-464 and also run a plex media server. I have noticed that the plex media server app takes up a lot of space the more content you add. Is there anyway to reduce this or is that what will happen? submitted by /u/CharleyJeansox [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi there My nas has a fairly significant total files difference between the hbs 3 backup and the same folder in file manager. The backup is set to backup all files and folder that are in shared folder. Backup shows 661011 files backed up In file manager I check and there is 68803 so a difference of 2700. Is there a way to tell what it is not backing up. Thank you in advance submitted by /u/Broad-Astronaut7473 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Upgrading Network Speed for NAS Data Transfer - Worth it?
Reddit » QNAP

Hey everyone, I just upgraded to a TS-873A NAS from a TS-453D and am currently in the process of transferring 50TB of data between them. They’re connected via a 1 gigabit Ethernet cable, and I’m seeing transfer speeds around 100 MB/s, which means it’s going to take about 5~6 days to complete the transfer. Both systems are using Seagate Exos 18TB HDDs. I'm considering upgrading to a 2.5 gigabit network connection. Do you think this will improve my data transfer speeds? Any advice or experiences with a similar setup would be really helpful! submitted by /u/xyzamzn [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I am a photographer who works away from home alot so Ideally after a wedding I would empty my cards and make a backup to my server on the same night. I have setup a vpn with tailscale but if I login through the browser and try and upload the page times out. I haven't been successful in mapping the server in mac, im guessing because my home ip isnt static. What would be the best way to be able to set this up? submitted by /u/manny8787 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I have had a notification that is persistent on my Nas (TS-673) I have the latest firmware (QTS 5.1.6.2722) but this has been a persistent problem for some months now so at least 2 updates to firmware. QNAP HBS moves a backup from an S3 to another S3 bucket

Hi there, I'm looking for a way to move an HBS backup from an S3 bucket named `backup-01` to another S3 bucket named `backup-02` and then restore some folders from `backup-02` to my QNAP. I already tried copying the entire `backup-01` bucket to a new bucket named `backup-02`. However, when I tried to restore from `backup-02`, HBS restored all the files and folders. It doesn't allow me to select specific folders for restoration. Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks submitted by /u/diegonajar [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

RAID Group + single disk not possible in TR-004

So I got a TR-004 which I'm using as a DAS. 3x 4TB drives in RAID 5 and I've got an extra 3TB drive that I intended to use as non-redundant storage for whatever. When I try to create an additional RAID group on the QNAP External RAID manager, I get the error: "There are not enough disks to create a RAID group" Which I get... 1 disk cannot RAID, but does that means it does not support a single drive mixed in with RAID groups? That kinda suck, it seems pretty basic. Edit: Thanks for the replies! I get that there's no 1-disk RAID, but I don't see any kind of single volume or stand alone disk ..read more
