Dr. Mahsa Vazin is the founder of PawCo Foods, a plant-based dog food company with a mission of making the world a greener place, one meal at a time. And while Mahsa has worked with board certified animal nutritionists to develop an optimal product for dogs, her own background is beyond impressive and couldn’t have better prepared her for this venture.
Mahsa Vazin earned her PhD in nanoscience (no big deal!) and was one of the early scientists at Impossible Foods. So, suffice it to say, she’s probably one of the best people out there to develop the first plant-based meat optimized for do ..read more

Like many incredible brands, Bramble was born out of its founder turning inward after a significant life event. Amanda Rolat had lost her dog, Harry, to cancer very suddenly. While she was in the animal hospital with Harry, Amanda began researching how to feed a dog with cancer; and the first thing she learned is how important it is to give the dog whole food, home-cooked meals.
While Harry ultimately passed before she could start transitioning his diet, she continued to dig deeper; and this journey ultimately culminated in Amanda’s founding of Bramble – a fresh, unprocessed, and plant-ba ..read more

I recently snagged some gorgeous blood oranges from the farmer’s market and was inspired to create a tasty citrus avocado salad with my loot! This salad is simple but packs a punch, with a tangy maple-dijon dressing, beets for some earthiness, and pistachios for a little crunch. It’s super light, healthy, and satisfying.
This dish is perfect as a main or side – it offers such complimentary flavors but its extremely easy to throw together in just ten minutes. The dressing is also such a go-to for me, and I’ll sometimes make an entire bottle to keep in the fridge. It’s one of those dressings tha ..read more

Looking for the best vegan protein powders on the market in 2024? As someone who gets 57g of protein in *just* my first meal of the day via one very loaded smoothie (recipe below), trust me when I say that I take my plant-based protein powders very seriously – and I’ve got the list to show for it.
Choosing the best vegan protein powder for your nutritional and lifestyle needs can feel overwhelming given the sheer number of them on the market – I’ve been there! We of course want the protein content to be high, but nutrient quality, texture, and taste are also essential factors. I’ve tasted ..read more

I really love granola. No – you don’t get it – I *really* REALLY love granola. There’s something about that salty, sweet, crunchy, oaty texture and taste that just does it for me. I love to just snack on it as-is, add it to ice cream, yogurt, or smoothie bowls…it’s just such a versatile, satisfying snack. That said, I’m often precluded from making granola because of the oven preheating and 30+ minute bake time; because when the craving strikes, it strikes fast. Enter: the best air fryer granola recipe: it’s ready for you in under 15 minutes (including prep time!) and is devastat ..read more

As much as I enjoy cooking at home, I do love dining out – and with all of the incredible eateries that this city has to offer, I had to take some time to compile a list of the best vegan restaurants in LA.
It should come as no surprise that Los Angeles has some of the top vegan culinary experiences that the world has to offer. Being a long-established mecca of wellness, it definitely tracks with Angelenos’ reputations that so many people here are vegan or skew more plant-based – so the demand is high, and restauranteurs are following suit.
This list is far from exhaustive, and I still have pl ..read more

Chicago: the home of deep-dish pizza, Midwestern manners, and…vegan food?! You read that right – the Windy City has a ton to offer in terms of plant-based grub, so I of course had to compile a list of the best vegan food I ate in Chicago immediately upon my return. So, let’s talk vegan Chicago.
This was actually my first time visiting the city and I hadn’t done much research on places I wanted to see and eat at prior. Luckily, my friend, Bonnie, put together an awesome itinerary for us; and as someone who typically goes into any trip with pretty locked-in plans, it was really nice to go into t ..read more
