I can't speak to the specific plant and its sensitivity to being moved as I have no experience with transplanting either (some plants are really fickle about this stuff) but in general as long as the roots are not bare and you took out a big enough ball of soil along with the roots, you should be fine. If you happen to have a planting container where you can keep the root ball contained, even better. If not leave it in the wheelbarrow, in a shaded area, and water the roots a bit. When you're putting it back in the ground make sure to water the root ball thoroughly (fill the wheelbarrow with wa ..read more

Sorry that this is neither related to fruits or vegetables, but I am sure someone will be able to answer this. I’m having a new fence put in and I need to move a butterfly bush and some bee balm. One is pretty hardy and the other not so much. My question is that I won’t be in town when the fence is installed, but will be home the day after. Is it possible to dig them up but not relocate them for a few days? Can put them in a wheelbarrow full of soil for a few days, or would they have to immediately go back into the ground? Thanks! I had something similar happen a few years ago. It turned out I had planted pickling cucumbers ! If they aren't picked in time they turn white and fat and aren't very edible. Statistics: Posted by Ken_K — Tue Sep 13, 2022 11:00 am ..read more

Well the same thing happened to the other one. Literally overnight. It was doing ok, had some little cucumbers on it that we’re getting good and ripe. I hit it with some fungicide last week and was watering it every morning. It was fine last night, then I come home to this this morning….. Just one over ripe cucumber can shut down a vine. Several over ripe ones no doubt can kill a vine. Combine that with a possible soil born or other disease and you can see a quick death. Make sure you plant your cukes in a new spot next year. Statistics: Posted by Monocot Master — Sat Aug 13, 2022 12:20 pm ..read more

Vegetable Gardening & Fruit Trees • Luffa not fruiting

Did luffa last year successfully. Had like 9 luffas harvested from each plant. Fun plant to grow. This year I only have one luffa on my only plant this year. Using grow bags for the first time. We soak each day. Been feeding it a balanced fert lightly each week. Got plenty of flowers and pollinators. The flowers burn out and never fruit. See flower pic below. Seems like a healthy plant otherwise. (Smaller plants are new pumkins) Statistics: Posted by CLT49er — Sun Aug 07, 2022 5:13 pm ..read more

I'm no expert and I hope to never experience Kentucky summers as I live in the northeast but those look like they have been on the vine weeks past prime picking. I also see powdery mildew on the leaves. The cucumbers turn yellow after green. Try picking them when they are about the width of a banana. Do you know what variety that is?
