Hello Guys,  Back in the days i had a genuine 1601 on a Jubilee, i wear it a lot as it was my only watch, is the one who put me in watches, i later gifted that watch to my son, and now started to think about a similar size models to build. I always love the clean look of Explorers models and the plain bezel, and decided to try to build a 1016 tropical gilt’s one after seeing various pic’s on the web. (I’m new to this kind of build but in the past worked on some of my genuine cheap vintage watch bought online, after lot of trial and errors, a lot of tools bought to repair and work on watch ..read more

Build another new 1680. Base watch is a JKF but there is not really much what needed of the Rep. I reshaped the whole Case, thinned and drilled the Lugs, opened the Cg's. Installed a gen T-127, gen Tube and Crown, The Dial was horrible so I took a Yuki one with correct hands. Datewheel is open 6&9. Modded the Inlay to look more matte. The Bracelet is the Factory 93150.   This came out.       Gesendet von meinem 2107113SG mit Tapatalk                   Gesendet von meinem 2107113SG mit Tapatalk     ..read more

Quick question regarding the JKF 1665, I've seen a few posts that comment on creating a 'lip' or 'step' or 'shave' on the bezel.   Am I right in thinking this is referring to sanding the inside of the Bezel itself slightly? As to sink the Bezel Insert in deeper than it currently sits, ie no longer flush but more recessed.   Sent from my SM-A217F using Tapatalk     ..read more

You can probably see from my post count, I am a newbie. Have been lurking for a while here and recently caught the "build bug". Sharing this 1665 build journey as I progress through this build. Thanks to @NCRich for this tutorial and countless more by others I was able to build my first vintage , 1680 Red Sub: Onto the topic at hand, got me a 1665 DRSD from Marvellous, fantastic guy btw. Took the cheaper route by going with the DG2813 because A) Slow beat B) Keyless on ETAs scare me  Put some time finding the gens I want to build after: Loved the whole look of this: Took CG ideas ..read more

Dial Decals.... let's talk.

So I've read up and seen plenty of fantastic results people have had with Dial decals, that being said I am absolutely hopeless with tech, and don't possess the equipment to create such results.   Is there anybody on here that sells Dial decals? Whether that be to order or simply old leftovers?   If this doesn't seem cost effective and Viet is a more realistic way to go please do chime in!   Tia   Sent from my SM-A217F using Tapatalk     ..read more

Trying to build6263 big red (white dial panda) and need help Base is the cartel. I read a lot on rwi and rwg on these vintage builds and many go for Vietnam/mq dials and venus movements, but then it’s still a mess and tinkering and a lot of money gets spend but still pushers case etc are off. Crown: I got now the correct crown and tube. Sorry noob here and no watchmaker: are crown and tube easy to install? Does anything need to be cut? Does the ST19 need to be pulled out into time setting mode when removing the original crown? Sub dial hands: Where to get thin sub dial hands? The gen has white ..read more

Rolex 14060 - NH35 powered

Generally known as the "last of the best" the 14060 has no date to unbalance the dial and hearkens back to the prior era of subs.  Introduced in 1990, this was the last gasp before the supercase.  I just put this here to reference the build.  It's really just a old case from a broken Silix special someone gave me.  I polished off the engravings, added a sapphire crystal I had in spare parts, and an insert from WSO.  More interestingly, I just dropped in a NH35 Seiko movement.  After all the ado about how it was so hard all I had to do was pop off the dial feet, ad ..read more

Question for the mechanic/machinist about vintage Rolex bracelet

So, I always wanted to ask 2 simple questions: 1) There's a way to reduce the center part of the most common aftermarket bracelet (BP, Raffle, JK etc) to have them 'slimmer' like the gen? I mean like disassemble the links and center parts, and machine them on the inner side. if not 2) There's some factory that produce those style of bracelet?   Pic attached as reference  ..read more
