The Vintage Omega 300 question.... When is a Seamaster 300 not a Seamaster 300? I wrote an article for Monochrome in Holland about my trials and tribulations restoring Omega 300 vintage dive watches in the early 2000's and you can read it here ATG Monochrome Vintage 300 Article LINK
Below is the original blog post I wrote in 2005 with a little more detail about these watches and my story restoring them... Experiences restoring an Omega Seamaster 300 and dealing with the fakers.   This is a diary entry really with an informative guide about how to spot the real from the fake versions of ..read more

Vintage Chronosport Olympic 1971 Sports Chronograph £1,450 This watch is being serviced which will include case finish and crystal and these are pre service images. Chronosport appears to have been a distributor of watches into the UK market during the ’70s and ’80s, via advertisements in sport magazines for gliding, motor sports, sports diving, etc. They offered watches made with their logo and brand printed on the dials and sold other sport watch brands like Enicar , Breitling, and Heuer into the recreational sport market. This is a very rare watch as it uses the up down triple register v ..read more

Porsche Design style valjoux 7750 with the classic up down configuration, almost exactly the same as Porsche or other Racing style watches. I think Carrera were a racing promotional firm and perhaps supplied watches to Porsche Carrera owners as the font is similar to the Carrera on the sides of the 911 RS cars but I am still researching although I have seen these watches around for some time. Solid brushed steel case with shrouded lugs.... Saphire crystal with a very glosses dial and tach around the outside.... Baton hands and applied Tritrium markers, day and date. The watch has been service ..read more

Below is a typical reason why I am not a massive fan of Seiko..... What I have noticed is that me in my mid 50's have a different attitude to Seiko than say people who are 35 to 50... they were established in the market as quality for that younger era... for me they were cheap and 'ok' compared to say Rolex or Omega..... their new watches are pretty cool but just like most of the watch companies I have watches over the last 20 years they have raided their past and updated famous watches Willard etc. This Speedtimer was an interesting watch as is the Pogue Yes they have Grand Seikos which ar ..read more

Norexa seems to have been a brand connected with Enicar... I have found watches of theirs using high end movements and high end watch types. Triple dates, dress chronographs and lots of large dial marker dive watches including compressor cases. Swiss made and distributed world wide (see AD) this watch seems to be right in their late 60's wheel house. Typical 60's dive watch case with what seems like an aluminum or pewter bezel which you don't see often with raised large applied Wabi markers, gloss black dial and large block easy to see diver hands with block lume tips. Like all of those watch ..read more

all so true.... That crystal is riding quite high for those times.... they usually were .25mm below flush... and modern crystals ending up being thicker... I've rplaced quite a few mineral glass crystals on PD's and Heuers.... that's probably all I know chap I am afraid.... statistics: Posted by ATG — 10:21 PM - Jun 27 ..read more
