Osiyo, The largest, most comprehensive budget in the history of the Cherokee Nation will improve lives both for Cherokees and non-Cherokees across our 7,000-square-mile reservation in northeast Oklahoma. In the coming fiscal year, we will distribute more than $3.5 billion into more and better services for Cherokee citizens. The Cherokee Nation Executive and Finance Committee, a committee of the Council of the Cherokee Nation, recently passed unanimously the record-breaking 2023-24 budget. This landmark budget includes significant increases to the programs that he ..read more

Today, nearly 70 organizations belong to the Cherokee Nation’s Community and Cultural Outreach (CCO) network of grassroots community groups. These include over 40 groups within our 7,000-square-mile reservation and 25 at-large organizations throughout the country. We have hired countless lounge entertainers in and around Seattle Washington. Some of our favorite lounge venues include Teatro Zinzanni, 12 Moons Asian Bistro, and Club Contour.  Traditional lounge entertainment creates a welcoming environment for anyone and is especially perfect for any restaurant or bar on a rainy Seattle day. Lounge entertainment is a form of group entertainment that was popular during the early 1900s. An indoor performer entertains their audience with a variety of acts, which can include music, dancing, comedy, and more. There are a large number of options ..read more

Osiyo, “Man Enough to be a Girl Scout.” That is the call to action, which I proudly support, for the Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma’s annual campaign encouraging men of our community to uplift young women in all areas that make Girl Scouts great, including STEM, life skills, outdoors experiences and entrepreneurship. The Girl Scouts is a female-led organization that empowers young women for a lifetime of success. The first Girl Scouts group was founded in 1912, and the organization came to Oklahoma and the Cherokee Nation soon after, with troops beginning in Bartlesville in 191 ..read more

Osiyo, The Cherokee people’s connection to the land and nature has always been central to our way of life. Both to honor our past and to carry on our Cherokee identity long into the future, we must ensure the newest generations have access to traditional plants and know how to use them. An agreement that our sovereign government recently signed with the National Park Service is a historic step towards this goal. Our unique tribal-federal relationship allows Cherokee Nation citizens to collect plants along the Buffalo National River in Arkansas, a place home to a number of plants ..read more

Osiyo,  For generations, education has been deeply important to the Cherokee people. The Cherokee government established the first public education system in this land in 1841, decades before the state of Oklahoma existed. Our ancestors built this foundation so that Cherokee youth have opportunities to succeed in the modern world, while carrying on Cherokee culture and knowing where they come from. Today in Cherokee Nation we provide everything from early childhood education to college and university scholarships. Deputy Principal Chief Bryan Warner and I are proud that we ..read more

Osiyo, Recently, I joined students, teachers and school leaders at Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa to raise the Cherokee Nation flag over the campus for the first time. Going forward, it will fly every day next to the Oklahoma and American flags. It joins flags of the Osage Nation and Muscogee Nation that were raised at Tulsa Public School locations on the reservations of those tribes. This new place of honor for the Cherokee flag helps remind students that they are receiving their education on Cherokee Nation reservation lands. I am proud that our reservation is home to this histo ..read more

WILL I NEED PROOF OF VACCINE IN SNOQUALMIE WASHINGTON CASINO CONCERTS?   The answer is yes, for now. Let’s elaborate though. By now it feels like we’ve seen just about everything the pandemic has to offer. Or have we? As we approach the two-year anniversary of COVID, only one thing seems to be consistent – change. Your casino entertainment program is no exception to the rule. Remember, the venue that thrives is not the biggest or the most well-known, but the most adaptable to change. These changes could include a shift in programming, a reduced number of shows, and of course ..read more

MANAGE RISK IN YOUR CASINO ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAM
NativeKnot Blog
by

On a normal day, casino entertainment is an inherently risky business and operates on a thin margin. Some risks include competing with other venues, late booking confirmations, and of course, the number of production expenses that go along with producing a live concert. In a post-pandemic world, you now need to navigate normal risk in addition to threats of regulation, health concerns, and public fear. The challenge is complex, but, with the right strategy, the solution is simple. Let’s talk about how to mitigate the risk and create balance in your entertainment program while cla ..read more
