My wife has some hot spots on her PET scan. She has to decide between having a few pin point high dose treatments,(which is promised to have less side effects)or to go with a 5 week combination treatment of hitting those spots with high radiation and using low radiation in the surroundings. Has anyone dealt with this? Thanks Tim P ..read more

Will I be able to manage my chemo treatments living alone? I’m 65 and live in a RV at a beautiful RV resort on the lake. I’m starting 3 rounds 3 weeks apart - surgery- then 3 more chemo treatments. I have a neighbor who works part time so it mainly is me on my own. Anyone else manage? I do have family 2000 miles away and a son who works full time. Thanks for the advice ..read more

CA 125

I was concerned because of my CA 125 went from 7 to 44. It had been over 7000 before 3 rounds of chemo and debunking. After 3 more rounds of chemo it went to 7. Then with the blood work following all of that the marker was going up. The doctor explained that the marker will fluctuate for any number of reasons and stress could be one of those reasons. The doctor did order a repeat of CA 125, to make sure since the CT scan did not show any signs of CA. I didn’t think that I was stressing, but I internally was due to expecting new granddaughter. Thank God the marker went down. Thanks for letting ..read more

Doxil & Stomach Cramps - Anyone?

There have been a few different conversations on here about doxil and side effects - most recently the rash which I do have.  However my main problem now seems to be with severe stomach cramps.  The kind where you curl up in a ball and hold your breath until the pain subsides.  Ugh! I have had four rounds of Doxil.  I first had the cramping after the third round.  It was so bad over a weekend I nearly called my doctor and went to the emergency room.  So we had a sonogram done to make sure I didn't have anything else going on - like gall stones.  Gall stones ..read more

Hi. Can you please help me. Due longer to misssed periods and pain doctor sent me to blood tests. The marker Ca125 was within limits, and He4 was elevated to 270 pmol. It has been 9 months since then. Ca 125 remains below the limit, He4 increased to 335 pmol, free fluid is present. Ct showed no changes in the abdominal cavity. I have diagnostic surgery in a month. Has anyone had a similar case and how accurate is the mentioned He4 actually?I don't even know what to expect and I'm already freaking out because it's been going on for so long. I don't even know what to expect and there was no canc ..read more

It's been 15 years since my diagnosis of stage 3c papillary, serous adenocarcinoma of the ovary. 15 years since my suboptimal debulking (tumors left in lymph nodes, on my bowel and on my liver that could not be removed). 15 years since I developed ascites so chronically and severely that I had to have it drained every 3 days for two months. 15 years since I ended up on 24/7 IV nutrition because I lost so much albumin protein from the the repeated draining of the ascites that my normal tissues could no longer hold fluids. I am grateful to the conventional doctors, some who stepped over the line ..read more

CT showing doubling of size of complex adnexal cyst, additional adnexal; need to get past call cente

The doubling is since 9/23. Radiologist suggests MRI with contrast. Size is 4.2 and 4.0, one with high density. I simply cannot get local upstate NY doc to respond to even get order. If needed I can travel albeit with hardship to Sloan Kettering. After reading prior posts, I believe, if need be, I’d be in better hands. At least at Sloan, phone calls are picked up and reps answer phones. But here’s the question, can one do surgery at let’s say, Sloan and do chemo locally? I am thinking ahead. It is a nightmare even getting basic labs for imaging (as required for contrast ..read more

Chemo or No Chemo - Stage 1C1

Finding myself in the decision making stage for Chemo or No Chemo (Observance) for Stage 1C1. Single ovary cyst with recent surgery to remove cyst, ovaries, fallopian tubes. Spillage during surgery (due to cyst size, needed drainage prior to removal). Cyst results returned as Grade 1 mucinous carcinoma. All post-op CT scans/tests in as normal. No signs of any other cancer sites, etc. An otherwise healthy 56 yr old! At crossroads for considering Observance vs Chemo route (6 cycles ..read more
