I am so disappointed in the ACS decision to stop assisting cancer patients who do not need a caregiver with lodging assistance. Now not only do I have to travel out of state alone for treatment (I'm an elder orphan) I have to find a way to pay full cost of lodging. I have no relatives or friends that can travel with me. I just can't afford it.  ..read more

Short: Is anyone here from Atlanta and can recommend a superstar gynecologic oncologist? And other doctors you'd recommend, including primary physician ? Or did you go out of state for your surgery/treatments?
Long:
A few days ago I got a devastating radiology report - CT/MRI showed ovarian malignancy on right kidney, peritoneal carcinomatosis, ascites. This is after I already had a kidney cancer removed back in 2020 (was clean since then). I got out of that one easy - just a robotic surgery, no chemo. Part of the kidney was removed, yet it's still functional. I was placed on semi-annual follo ..read more

Obviously, I am new. So new, I haven't yet even got an oncologist. The gynecologist is personally calling around to find one for me. Two pathologists didn't know what I had so they sent it to Mayo clinic and the pathology report just came back this week. I was told this type is very rare. I had a large tumor on one ovary. It was all a surprise because the surgeon thought she was going after a cyst but it turned out to be an edematous tumor. There was no indication (CA-125 and OV-something or other) that it would be cancer, but it was. But it is low-grade and they caught it early, so I am not w ..read more

Hello, I am a high school senior and I want to know if I can do anything for my mom with ovarian cancer.
My parents immigrated from Vietnam. When they had kids, my mom was a SAHM. Around 14 years later, she became a single-parent that worked to raise us. We couldn’t afford the house, so my mother packed most of the our stuff and drove 2 hours for a smaller, but extremely cheaper area. There wasn’t any child support and my mom had little to no experience for work. She sold all of her old jewelry and gifts. She picked up cosmetology and did it for a few years. Her current job is aiding elderly a ..read more

If you folks have had this happen how did you go... my wife's ovarian cancer has reemerged... She has had her first round of Doxil/carboplatin and now she is saying that using distilled water for proper hydration is a problem become it is starting to taste bad... We are going to try apple juice but I was wondering if Gatorade would be a good try... I just am concerned that the electrolytes in Gatorade may be an issue with chemo... hi, my wife is presumably to have ovarian cancer.
big belly, bloating and loss of appetite started about one month ago.
Went to primary doc, then did an Ultrasound about 3 weeks ago, it showed 3cm pancreatic tumor and ascites. Scheduled for a CT scan the following week. Then her bloating/cough got much worse so we checked into the ER about 3 days after ultrasound.
In the ER, they did CT scan, biopsy, paracenthesis and bloodwork on 9/22. it showed she has two tumors about 10cm x 10 cm in pelvis area, one on each side. Her CA-125 is at 15085. Pancreas are normal. Still waiting for biopsy results ..read more
