The final year of the first-generation Corvette allowed buyers to benefit from all the lessons learned in its development, establishing it as a dominant force on road or track. For the 1962 model year, Corvette introduced some changes like two-tone paint and much of the brightwork disappeared, the body adopting more creases than curves, signaling a modernization. The Z06 features the new LT6 all-aluminum V-8 engine, a 5.5L DOHC powerhouse derived directly from the championship-winning C8.R race car. It’s been a wild ride for Corvette Racing in both series this season. To begin, the Corvette Racing world had to adjust to GM’s transition from factory-backed to factory-supported racing (full CorvSport feature here).
