WHY ARE THERE ALWAYS NAKED PEOPLE IN YOUR WRITING?
Naturist Fiction Blog

I get asked the question. “Why are there always naked people in your writing?” (or What? Nobody taking their clothes off?) Most weeks in the writers’ group I am a part of. There are two answers to the question. # 1 The classic advice. Write about what you know about. Write about what you enjoy. So, I write about being a naturist. And about the things I enjoy, not only about being a naturist but also, as a social naturist, the interactions I have experienced or witnessed between naturists. Which is how I came to create L’Abeille Nue. It is based on my experiences while running a naturist resort ..read more

Naturist Fiction Book Club!
Naturist Fiction Blog

I recently became aware that a local humanities organization has arranged thematic book lists for book clubs to adopt. Themes include topics such as “The Cowboy,” “Myth and Literature,” “Friendship,” and “Sovereign Worlds,” each with a brief description and a list of four to six books. The list for “Friendship,” for example, includes The Color Purple by Alice Walker, Turtle Diary by Russell Hoban, and three more titles. The program also includes grants for purchasing the books, inviting speakers, and other aspects, but what interests me here is the idea of the thematic lists. I began to wonder ..read more

Nude in space

No. This is not the announcement about the 4th “Nude in Space” book coming out in half an hour. Nor next week. It’s about this. Once, someone pointed out to me how people in space NEED clothes to survive. Otherwise they will die from radiation and what not. Clearly, very often aliens are not people. They don’t die from radiation, and even less from what not. The crucial difference is, of course, that aliens don’t procreate. There are no breasts, vulva, no penises. They jump into the next available “alien replicator” and out pop two of them. (I will refrain from the mechanics behind this devic ..read more

Sexuality in Naturist Fiction?

Creativity does not like to be constrained. Artists like to break out of strict forms. Deadlines, syllable counts, word counts, genre expectations – these can actually all be quite helpful, but in general we writers like to be able to bust out of norms with the same gusto that nudists like to bust out of clothes. That said, we naturist fiction writers have acted deliberately to distinguish naturist fiction from erotic fiction. While the algorithm on Amazon for suggesting similar naturist titles has improved, there can still be confusion. When I wrote my tale of a naturist Don Quixote a few yea ..read more

It’s magic
Naturist Fiction Blog

Writing is magic. Writing creates and/or opens worlds and places we might otherwise just dream of. Writing makes those places accessible. Writing about naturism makes this even more true. For me, writing is the most amazing escape into where I would want to be, what I would want to see. If it doesn’t exist, I’ll create it. If it exists, I’ll transform it into a magical place, like the Native American burial mounds in Naked Crow, or the amazing Mirror Earth worlds. How would it feel to come face to face with the dinosaurs in the forest near the first community we visited there? To see them an ..read more

Welcoming the Nude Year
Naturist Fiction Blog

Happy Nude Year! The calendar on my phone says 2024, but on some other calendar it might be 8247, or 38,680, or 2. Most cultures largely agree on how to count years (the solar cycle), even if we don’t agree on which number we’re on, or when in the solar cycle to declare that a new year begins. Source But most of the world now follows the Western calendar, for better or worse. One of the images that has become part of the Western new year tradition is the baby new year, often accompanied by an old man who symbolizes both Father Time and the outgoing, old year. There was an ancient Greek traditi ..read more

What happened to the year?

I just realised this will be the last Naturist Fiction blog post of this year. Is 2023 really almost over? What happened to more than 340 days before today? Time took a running leap, that’s for sure. And what a year it’s been, so far, and who knows what more will come towards us in its last weeks! (Not that much, probably. It’s been a year of changes. Founding father Robert decided to make space for the younger generation, which appeared in the shape of Ted Bun, who’s doing a good job filling up those spots. Books came out, readers were happy, and Will and Ted even appeared in the podcasts s ..read more

Waste Not
Naturist Fiction Blog

This week’s post is inspired by Paul‘s recently published story Gaea. Which is (why haven’t you read it?) an Eco tale, about trying to prevent the destruction of the world as a result of overconsumption and waste production. Waste What? The joy of e-publishing and print-on-demand is that this group of authors and almost all writers of naturist fiction don’t have mountains of books waiting for buyers. Imagine how many books it would take to put a copy of Gaea into every bookshop in the country. Then multiply that by the number of books – there are over 4 million on Kindle Unlimited – and you h ..read more

The Naturalist Fiction
Naturist Fiction Blog

Of all the misconceptions associated with naturism–almost all of them related to sex–there is one that stands out for its relative innocence. It’s actually kinda cute! Endearing, even – it’s that confusion with the word “naturalist.” You’ll see someone who has recently discovered naturism come out proudly as a naturalist. Why not, right? A naturalist is akin to a biologist, perhaps an ecologist, a forester, or a marine wildlife specialist. And I’ll tell you what – you’d think that more of those naturalists would be naturists! Sadly, there is no direct correlation between them, despite the gran ..read more

So, about Gaea
Naturist Fiction Blog
by Paul

You may have heard about this book already. Please, don’t skip this post, in that case. As you may know – or not – this book started out as an image, made by two people. The original image looked nothing like this cover, but it kicked off an interesting journey which led to this book. More about that on my other site. As the story progressed, I felt more and more connected to it, to the people in the story, and to Gaea. I’ve always felt connected to the world, earth, nature, name it what you wish. That is what makes me call myself a naturist instead of a nudist. The emphasis on nature is very ..read more
