Proposed WISCONSIN Rule Change Threatens Nude Use of DNR Lands Across the State.

A new anti-nudity rule, proposed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources seeks to prohibit nudity at all DNR-administered locations throughout the state. We can refer to this proposed anti-nudity as “a part of Board Order PR-03-20.” The rule would apply to all the familiar DNR properties in the state, but the paranoid Natural Resources administrators poured extra effort (and wording) into making certain they had driven a stake through the heart of Mazo Beach. For years and years, Mazo was a popular spot for clothing-optional recreation on the Wisconsin River. Access to the location ..read more

A brief note concerning Wisconsin legislation:
The Naturist Society Foundation

A group of lawmakers in Wisconsin have recently filed a handful of legislative bills that should be of great concern to naturists in Wisconsin and elsewhere. As a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, TNSF cannot lobby politically on behalf of a proposed law, or against it. However, we certainly can make our members – and the community at large – aware of what’s going on. And we feel we must. Four legislative bills – two in the Senate and two in the Assembly – have been filed as an orchestrated political response to the World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR), a recurring protest event. WNBR began years ag ..read more

Imagining Camus Naked, by Mark Storey

The French journalist and philosopher Albert Camus (1913-1960) enjoyed being naked in the sun, especially along isolated North African shorelines of the Mediterranean. Swimming—and skinny-dipping in particular—meant enough for him to reference it in at least three novels, multiple essays, and his notebooks. That said, he did not think much of the French naturists of his time. His ambiguity toward naturism is thus worth examining. Camus appreciated the sensuousness of direct full bodily contact with sunshine and the ocean, but did not overly romanticize nature in the process. He is in line phil ..read more

By: Stephen Bosbach This is an overview and critique of the 2018 Hiking Oregon Naturally Annual Tour. My hope is that others will follow some of these ideas and create their own natural hiking tour in their area. To that end, I’d like to share some of the things that worked, and some that didn’t.       As a backdrop, my wife Crystal and I participated in the 2016 NEWT, or Nude European Walking Tour. The NEWT has been going on for 13 years now (see nactiv.net), and this gave us a framework of ideas to use in developing a similar event in the United States. This is the ..read more

Finding Our Own Nude Beach…on BC’s Texada Island

Kathy Blanchard and Mark Storey Kathy hunts for rocks. The Gulf Islands nestled throughout the Strait of Georgia between Vancouver Island and British Columbia’s main land have more clothing-optional beaches than any other region of North America. A few, like Little Tribune Bay on Hornby Island and Blackburn Lake on Salt Spring Island are familiar to many naturists. Others are enjoyed only by locals as the island’s quiet, little-known “nude beach.” The driving distance and multiple ferry rides needed to reach most of these islands prevent large crowds and unwanted attention from forming, and ..read more

A Study in Contrast By: Jerry and Becky Edmundson While the harshness of winters in our current home state of Maryland doesn’t rank among our nations most brutal, they are cold enough to give us nature-loving nudists a touch of cabin fever. So when the circumstance presented itself for a mid-winter trip to Miami,Becky and I jumped at the opportunity. On any trip, we try to look for naturist venues. Having made numerous trips to Miami over the years, Haulover Beach Park and its well-known clothing-optional beach is a “must” on our itinerary for every visit. Haulover is arguably the most succe ..read more
