Why I Chose a Luxury Product Package over a Session Only Fee

I’ve been asked many times why my fee is so expensive, so I’ve thought long and hard about this blog post addressing this very issue. It really is all about perceived value and how you see it. I know I’m not going to be the photographer for everyone and yes not everyone can afford me. Like anything though, if you want it so bad, you’ll save for it. It’s no different than wanting that special holiday, the dream car and the many things we want to do in our lives. Yes, I’ll be honest here, it’s been a rollercoaster ride to get to where I am today in terms of my business and ultimately what I wan ..read more

Annie & Olivia – Their Equine Photoshoot

Tucked away in the village of Scropton is a small but established livery yard that I never knew existed and where Olivia kept her horse Annie. Olivia’s mum had purchased a gift certificate for Christmas for her daughter to have a photoshoot with her beautiful mare, Annie, after seeing a friend she knew of her and her horse that I’d photographed in the summer a year before. We spoke about the session and the kind of photos Olivia wanted so we opted for the school holidays and early evening when the sun wasn’t quite so harsh and where there would be less flies around. With horses there are alway ..read more

Are you sitting on the fence?

Interesting title and absolutely no pun intended BUT are you actually sitting on the fence about booking in your equine photoshoot experience? You want to do it BUT….. (that but really is annoying). I’ll do another specific about dogs later on. There are probably several reasons why you find yourself here and well here goes, I’ll try and read your mind! I’ve been here many times, not necessarily about having a photoshoot but my ongoing training to improve myself greatly. The BUT factor always creeps in it’s human nature to continually question something, it’s how our brains work. So here goes ..read more

For the next few weeks I’m delving into my archives to share some of the horse and dog photoshoots I had the privilege of photographing but never actually shared them here on my blog! Sometimes life gets in the way and for whatever reason, blogging takes a bit of backseat as it doesn’t seem important at the time. I now realise that this is not something to put on the back burner for a rainy day and that it is actually vital for my business plus I know many of my clients love taking a look at their blog feature. So this is something I intend to address and improve upon. I thought I’d share a re ..read more

Back in July 2022 I was exhibiting my photography at the fabulous Ashby Show. A show that for 3 years couldn’t go ahead because of the pandemic – but finally, it arrived and it was truly a hot day, so it’ll be a memorable one that’s for sure. At the show, I ran a competition to win a photoshoot worth £395.00 – yes that’s correct – £395.00. This all included a photoshoot experience with your horse/dog or both, a consultation prior to the shoot day, outfit advice, the photoshoot and post production work, in person viewing and lastly, a beautiful framed print. The lucky winner of my competition w ..read more

What happens if it rains during my photoshoot?

A great question. With all the best laid plans in the world, the weather is something beyond anyone’s control sadly. I’ve very recently done a couple of photoshoots where the weather was overcast but dry. My client and I checked various weather apps as you do and it all looked ok. Chance of precipitation was minimal….. that word MINIMAL. So guess what, you head off out and start the session. Everything is going so, so well. The sun pops out there are dramatic looking storm clouds in the distance, there’s very little breeze, it’s all so wonderful. What the heck happened next? All of sudden out ..read more

So, I thought I’d just showcase the Festive Equine Mini Photoshoots Slideshow which was prepared this morning and I’m trying to be super prepared plus I can secure those last minute bookings that have remained undecided. Most of my Festive photo sessions last year just involved the horses but their owners are also most welcome to join in on the photoshoot – why should they miss out on the fun. BUT… being included in the photos isn’t for everyone and I get that! Also, I’m having a Festive December holiday sale with 15% off product purchases from prints too gorgeous albums. I’ve popped the deta ..read more

My Why & Why I Love What I Do

To some this may be a bit of waffle and utterly pointless but I’m ok with that. I don’t find writing about myself easy. I think that’s because I don’t want to focus attention on me but actually I do want the focus on what TMS Photography does which I’ve been the proud owner of since setting it up back in 2013. Since school I had wanted to work with animals so this really is a great compromise on the career choices I had back then. Going back in time a little bit, I actually although didn’t realise my photography journey began very early on I’d say when I was around 15 years old with a camera t ..read more
