Right now here is my schedule. I only breastfeed one boob at a time for ~8 minutes due to high capacity and fast flow. Baby is healthy and gaining weight well. Baby is 7 weeks old: 6 am left side breastfeed 6:20 am PUMP both sides (~9 oz total) 9 am right side breastfeed 12 pm left side breastfeed 3 pm right side breastfeed 6 pm left side breastfeed (baby sometimes takes one extra feed at 7:30 pm) 8:40 pm right side breastfeed 9:30 pm PUMP both sides (~9 oz total) My partner gives baby 4-5 oz bottle MOTN, though baby is super close to making it to 6 am now so that will likely drop off soon. It seems (from googling) that there are no studies so Ill have to rely on anecdotal evidence. So please tell me what happened if you tried this. Concerns: will it decrease milk supply or change taste/quality? Reasons for wanting to IF: it cures my IBS and also for less bloating and some weight loss( all my trousers are uncomfortable now) Thanks in advance submitted by /u/ScientistFun9213 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Advice on breastmilk freezer in apartment

i just had my baby 6 days ago and have begun breastfeeding and pumping and so far have a great supply that is increasing day by day. i have a good feeling this will work out and my supply will keep up. we do not have a lot of room in our fridge or freezer, our freezer is actually tiny and we live in an apartment. would it be a good idea to get a little deep freezer for the apartment? it might be a little in our way but that way we have the space. has anyone done this, especially in an apartment, and if so, any freezer recommendations that are pretty compact and wont take up TOO much space? Don’t pump after breastfeeding ? More questions after seeing my lactation consultant!

Hi! I’m a FTM to a 3 week old. I met with my lactation consultant for the first time yesterday and the session was an hour long. It felt quite rushed and although I learned a lot I still have some questions that they didn’t have time to answer. I’m hoping I can get some of those questions answered here. Some background: Before the consult, I was breastfeeding, then my husband would formula feed while I pumped for 15mins. When I pump (without breastfeeding) I get about 2oz (65mL) every 2 hours. A few days ago I got hit with fever symptoms but my tempatuee was normal- body aches, headaches, nig ..read more

Will my supply increase??

I am feeling very defeated right now. I’m 4 weeks pp, and barely making enough for my LO. Here’s what the first 4 weeks looked like - LO came 4 weeks early. He struggled to latch so a nurse gave us a nipple shield to try and that helped so much. My colostrum supply was great according to all the nurses at the hospital. My milk started to come in 4 days after he was born. At a week, he had dropped 9.9% of his weight. Pediatrician recommended that we breastfeed for 15 minutes (only one breast) and then top him off with an ounce of pumped milk if I had the supply, or formula if needed. So I was ..read more

The gassiest baby

For the last 2 weeks, my baby girl (now 6 weeks old) has been, like clockwork, grunting and crying out with gas pains every morning around 4am. She’ll still be asleep but clearly in pain. We started giving gas drops multiple times a day, and especially with each feeding from 5pm on. I also started taking a probiotic in hopes it makes its way to her through my milk. We’ve done the bicycle kicks and the leg squishes up to the belly, which will maybe get 1 or 2 toots out but then she’s still in pain. She also takes Pepcid for reflux, and the reflux seems to be under control. We’re at our wits en ..read more

How can I pump without creating an oversupply?

Yes - As the title says. I find so many different results on the internet when I try to search for this issue, and I can’t really grasp my head around when the right time to pump is. I don’t really have a freezer stack and I want to save up some milk ICE. My LO is 9 weeks old, and I have a medela maxi swing breastpump and able to pump on both breasts if I want. I also have a naturebond/haaka - But I’m afraid of creating an oversupply as I don’t want to deal with mastitis. LO does take the bottle as we had to supply with formula while I was in the hospital (we had to stay for a long time after ..read more

How much should I put in a bottle?

My 6 week old has always nursed without any problems. We’re incorporating bottles as the end of my maternity leave approaches. I put 2.5-3oz in the bottle based on a google search of how much babies this age should eat per session but sometimes she still seems hungry- I worry about giving more just because I know the bottle is faster and I want to give her stomach time to settle and not get overloaded and make her spit up. However, I’m beginning to wonder if she truly is still hungry because I’ve noticed when I pump, I can easily pump 4 oz or more in under 20 minutes, depending on time of day ..read more

My poor nipples!

Baby number three is 20 weeks tomorrow! We are EBF and he has allergies to cows milk, soy, gluten & eggs. Fun times! He’s been nursing nearly every hour for the past 24 hours, I’m assuming a growth spurt or maybe my milk had diminished (I’ve obviously been cutting a lot of food so trying to keep my calories up is hard!!) and he’s making sure it’s going nowhere. Either way I’m ok with all the feeding he needs. But! My poor nipples. RIP. I used a nipple shield until week 16 and we’ve been doing great without it until the last few days where he’s literally chomping on it so tight I’m physica ..read more
