One of the questions I get asked the most is if recovery is ACTUALLY possible. Which my short and sweet answer of course is... Yes, absolutely! But I know that when you've struggled with anxiety for so long, it's easy to get tricked into believing that it's not possible and you might be the exception to recovery.
So in this episode, I want to dive into the stories that you might be telling yourself. Stories like...
"I'm just different. Recovery isn't possible for me."
"I've been struggling for so long. I'm just too far gone."
"This is just what the rest of my life is going to look like."

And don't think this is just an episode where she shares exercises for how to speak more kindly to y ..read more

I thought for YEARS that the goal was to learn how to manage anxiety. So naturally, I tried everything to manage it! All the coping skills, all the mindfulness techniques, literally anything that promised anxiety relief.
And then 10 years ago, I walked into a psychiatrist's office to talk about going on medication because I was at one of the lowest points in my recovery journey, and she said to me, "F*** managing anxiety! You don't have to learn to manage anxiety."
And this, was one of the most pivotal points of my recovery journey, and of my life!

Have you ever wondered… What does being recovered actually look like? I know I used to!
I used to wonder things like… Will the anxious thoughts actually go away? Will I experience the symptoms and panic anymore? Will I feel like there are still things I can’t do? Will I actually be able to drive and go places without worrying about panicking or something bad happening?
So in this episode, I want to answer these questions for you and share with you what being on the "other side" actually looks like, because I want you to have a realistic view of recovery. And I know that sharing this stuff will ..read more

You really want to recover, right? But there also might be a little (or big) part of you that's actually scared to recover. Whether it's because...
Recovering means you're actually going to have to do the things that scare you and the feelings are so scary.
You have no idea who you are without anxiety! Maybe because it's been a part of your life for so long.
Although it feels uncomfortable, it feels safer to stay stuck where you are and not let go of control or take any "risks."
You're scared to actually recover but then fall back even harder.
If you're recovered, people will actually expect ..read more

Kathryn went from being bubbly, carefree, and a world traveler, to struggling to even take a shower in her own home. Then after leaving a toxic marriage and moving back to the town she grew up in, everything went back to "normal." She was experiencing life again, without the symptoms, panic, and fear. And she thought... I'll never struggle with that again!
But then a year and a half later, she had a panic attack while driving and she quickly found herself back to creating "safe zones" and ultimately not leaving her house. Shortly after, Kathryn reached out to me, feeling lots of shame, and sai ..read more
