Hey boys and girls, I'm a military plane enthusiast and I already own a few ready made fighter models. Lately I've been thinking of buying a Zvezda Su-30 model assembly kit. But it turns out I know nothing about model making. So I'd like your advice on which tools and consumables should I get hold of first before buying my first kit. Also I'd like to know where do you guys buy decals and fin flashes.( I want to build a Su-30 MKI).
Thanks for any help in advance. Cheers.

Something I've been wanting to do for a long time, a Mojahedin-e Khalq MT-LB with Chinese Type 63 107mm rocket pods in 1/35 scale, in progress.
Apparently Maryam Rajavi herself, the current nutbag leader of the MeK, came up with the idea of mounting rocket pods and ZU-23 twin-barreled anti-aircraft guns on the rear decks of their MT-LBs in the early 1990s.
Anyway, this is the Trumpeter MT-LB with the pods taken from two Trumpeter BJ212 sets mounted on a scratchbuilt rack.

So I was inspired by the WWII British song "hanging out the washing on the Siegfried line". A British machine gun crew holds up mockingly their socks and undershirts while posing for an American photographer.
They are of course on the Siegfried line!
