I haven't been here long, and thank you for making me welcome despite my quirks and Japan fascination!
I recently expressed and interest in a book Mike 'Scratchbuilder' referenced in an enquiry I had made concerning the F-4 Phantom II, Mike PM'd me asking if I'd like his book and sent it to me free of charge not even accepting my offer of payment.
Thanks Mike, you're a star!
This is quite typical of members of the scale modeling community...

I think these were taken in 2004, the one and only time missus Miko built a model kit, I only gave technical help, nothing practical, not a bad result for first time out!
The more observant among you will know it's a 1/72 Revell Spitfire mk V
Does your significant other bash plastic?

Hi guys.
I'm taking a break from my numb fisted attempt at a 144 Tornado, and dug this out.
My wife gave me this about a year or so before we married, and we had our 40th last September.
I think it's the rigging and using the loom to make the rope ladders too that kept putting me off.
But I'll see how far I get this time ..read more

I've managed to make a start on my first 1/144 Tornado, and I'm enjoying it.
Twice I nearly lost a tiny part to the carpet abyss, but I got lucky, must be a good omen.
Iv put the cockpit together with some basic painting and fixed the outer nose around it.
Looks like the nose will need a little work to smooth the seam line, and a little painting and touching up inside the cockpit is needed.
So I'm leaving it here for my first stint and will update as I go along.
It's going to be as and...

Hi all, I have noticed that despite my efforts to clean my brushes, they develop a hook at the tip. Any pointers as to why and how I can prevent it.
