Camp OBR was alive with energy as our incredible team of staff and volunteers came together for a work weekend like no other! We want to give a huge shoutout to all the amazing folks who joined us, including our buddies from @movets_outdoors, and our volunteers Randy Hartmann, Steve Anderson, and Gene Boldman. Their dedication and hard work made a world of difference as we tackled everything from building fences to putting together furniture. On Thursday, March 14, 2024, an EF3 tornado ripped through Logan County, Ohio, killing three people and leaving a path of destruction in its wake. In less than 24 hours, we were on the ground in Russells Point, Ohio providing meals to first responders, residents, and relief workers impacted by the tornado. In all, we provided 1,326 meals over three days. Huge thanks to our partner, Blue Dog BBQ, and our dedicated area coordinators, Dave Meyer and Chris Dyer, for their swift action. Tom “Doc” Barowsky first heard about Operation BBQ Relief in 2015 when he was competing in a Kansas City Barbeque Society competition in North Carolina., where he was then living. “At the time I was running a one-physician practice and could not participate in deployments,” Doc said. “Once I retired from practice in 2017, I wanted to continue to serve those in need. Because of my love for all things barbecue and my desire to help those in need, OBR seemed like a perfect fit.” Shortly after retirement, Doc moved to Colorado. However, when Hurricane Florence landed a blow to the East Coast in ..read more

He first volunteered with us on a deployment to help those impacted by a tornado in Mayfield, Ky. in 2021. “I applied for 2 days. Once I hit the ground I was welcomed and felt needed.
