I'm still thinking about this; will probably reply below, later. But, I've been thinking a photon ceases to be the original long before it's totally absorbed.   This is part of where we are talking past each-other. Why would you doubt that Planck Length was definitive? My professor, Dr. Young, doubted it, and in fact said it was impossible for the universe not to be 'infinitely' divisible, or the theories all would be wrong. I disagreed with him, but the evidence I needed didn't exist until LIGO detected gravity waves. I think you've missed quite a bit of the debate going on, or just aren't looking in the right places.
