It would be interesting to put together a big battle scenario at Wavre with Wellington's army arriving on the left flank during the afternoon led by Picton's 5th Division and a couple of brigades of light cavalry .... Statistics: Posted by Bill Peters — Tue Apr 02, 2024 6:09 pm ..read more

Thanks, Leigh. Your comments are sincerely appreciated. Since my last posting here, I have been able to get in touch with Dave. He has let me know that he has too many real-life commitments to reengage in the administration of TWS. That is unfortunate, but I cannot say that it wasn't exactly the answer that I expected to receive. I wish you all the very best in your future games, wherever you may choose to play them. I am sure many of you are probably already members in several of the other organizations. Remember that it doesn't matter whether you win or lose, so long as you have fun playi ..read more

Hi Mark, Thanks for your support of TWS and our hobby over the years. Good leadership is undervalued and hard to find in our current circumstances. All good things come to an end I suppose. Many of you did not know that Scott Clawson suddenly passed away a year and a half ago. That was the time that we brought David Cronin on board to help us run things. Unfortunately, Dave has not actually even logged onto our site in the last three months. I have sent an inquiry as to whether or not he has any interest in continuing. Having said that, Al is entirely correct in his statement that I do not have the time to run TWS alone due to my full-time commitment of managing all of the staff, resources, marketing, accounting and clients for my company in Georgia. When we founded TWS in 2014 ..read more

Al, I am sure that I speak for each member of the Age of Napoleon group in expressing our sincere thanks for your years of service to the Wargaming Society as a founder, organizer of tournaments, leader of La Grande Armee, mentor, skilled opponent and friend. You have established the highest standards for a historical simulation computer gaming club. I look forward to meeting you on the field of battle in the near future. In the meantime, our sincere best wishes for improving health and quality time with family and friends. Salute and Battle On! Statistics: Posted by Bill Cann — Sat Mar 30, 20 ..read more

Greetings Members & Friends, I am going straight to the point. Having various health issues has made putting tournaments together and managing them something I can no longer accomplish effectively. Mark’s work load is far too heavy for him to step up and manage tournaments. The result is The Wargaming Society will no longer have its annual tournaments and I will no longer be an administrator of the Society. I wish to thank everyone for their participation in tournaments as well as their patience with me when reporting game results. I am not dead yet! I will still be playing games and de ..read more

My all-time favorite war movie quote is from Patton where at the end of the movie George C. Scott says this: "For over a thousand years, Roman conquerors returning from the wars enjoyed the honor of a triumph, a tumultuous parade. In the procession came trumpeters and musicians and strange animals from the conquered territories, together with carts laden with treasure and captured armaments. The conqueror rode in a triumphal chariot, the dazed prisoners walking in chains before him. Sometimes his children, robed in white, stood with him in the chariot or rode the trace horses. A slave stood b ..read more
