1984 Mayfair with a 1989 stage 1 998 in it.Minispares say to set the timing at 5 degrees , i an trying to set the mixture with a Colourtune and Gunson Analyser, but not having much success. I can get it to about 13.5/8 but it varies. Carb rebuilt, no air leaks. I want to get it running reasonably so that I can get it on a rolling road to get it set up. I was about to start with a fuel tank sealing kit (POR 15), and saw the internal hose with fuel filter inside the tank. I read other peoples' experience using tank sealers, and some had the filter get clogged, but they only addressed how to fix that after that fact. Hoping to prevent the issues, here are my questions: 1) Is it possible to remove the hose at the inlet? It looked to me like there was some sort of sealant applied, as I could not see a seam where the hose ended down by the tank wall. 2) If it can't be removed, has anyone tried pulling the filter and end of the hose out the tank ..read more

I am having an issue wt Irratic idle. During idle, my RPM fluctuate between 1000 - 1400 together with vacuum gauge between 17-20 intermittenly. I have changed spark plug cables, check plug gaps, changed plugs, change from electronic back to points Dizzy wt new cap, checked for vacuum leaks, changed carbs and manifold.
