Louisville Metro Police Dept. had been surveilling Breonna's home because they suspected her ex-boyfriend had been receiving drugs there. They planned to do a no-knock search warrant raid, in which they executed and Breonna was shot and later died.
Breonna's story moved so many because the police officer who fired off the deadly shot did not get any charges against him.
She inspired the #sayhername movement, and many who support the #BLM movement keep her story alive by demanding justice and change.

Drew Peterson, a former police officer, had been married many times and was known to cheat on his wives, and then marry his mistress. His third wife, Kathleen Savio, was found dead in her bathtub after he divorced her. It was ruled an accident, and then later his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, went missing. Police were suspicious and ended up exhuming Kathleen from her grave to reevaluate her cause of death, which then opened up the legal investigations into Drew's involvement.

The 1960s were difficult for members of the LGBTQ+ community because the laws in place discriminated against them. A local hangout, The Stonewall Inn, was a safe haven for those in the community but remained a place where NYPD officers would badger the patrons. On June 28, 1969, the patrons would not back down, which led to 6 days of riots and freedom for those in the LGBTQ+ community to be who they wanted to be.
