The big difference between you and the more experienced pro is that you tend to lose more points due to a single mistake.
You become frustrated.
You get “tight.”
You lose concentration.
One or all of the above can lead to more errors and sometimes cause you to give up on the match entirely.

Lefty serves are difficult for one reason: we simply don’t see them that often. And for some crazy reason, they all seem to have those wicked slice serves, am I right?
A lefty slice serve moves from right to left, naturally targeting a righty’s backhand, typically the weaker side. You won’t be able to run around it for a forehand return, but don’t worry — you’ve got this!
Get into position:
When receiving on the deuce side,
The best position for receiving a lefty serve in the ad court is at the left corner of the service box. Even if it’s a slow serve, DON’T try to run around it with your fore ..read more

At barely 15 years old, Corey “Coco” Gauff burst onto the tennis scene back in 2019 at the Wimbledon Championships. It was there that she became the youngest player in Wimbledon’s history to qualify for the main draw.
In the first round, she captured the hearts of tennis fans worldwide when she defeated her childhood hero Venus Williams. She went all the way through to the 4th round, and fans and players alike hailed her as the “Next Serena” – a moniker that is proving to be incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to live up to.
Nearly four years later, she is ranked World No. 6 on the WTA To ..read more

Like many women tennis players, I love my high heels, but they can be taxing on your feet and ankles: bunions, blisters and calluses, and plantar fasciitis… and that’s not all!
High heels often can also cause the achilles (the strongest and largest tendon in the body) and the calf muscles to tighten and shorten over time. That can lead to additional problems like ankle sprains and strains and a higher risk of achilles tendonitis and the aforementioned foot problems. And ALL of this can keep you off the courts!
But let’s take it a step further (no pun intended). Studies have also ..read more

Returning against a team serving in the I-formation can be very intimidating, which, of course, is the reason they do it. It’s confusing for the returner and usually leads to indecisiveness and a poor return.
The challenge for the returner is that you don’t know where to hit the ball because you’re unsure in which direction the net player will be moving.
Most lower-level players opt for the lob return, but many times, it’s too low and short and gets picked off by the net player. A lob is only a good option if you can consistently hit the ball high enough to get past the net player and with eno ..read more

Women over 50 make up a good portion of recreational tennis players. Thank goodness for Denise Austin and her passion for fitness!
Even at 65 years young, Denise Austin seems to have all the best workout moves—and the good news is, she’s always sharing! The fitne ..read more
