Blender and MPFB • Make Uvs move so that they allways face the camera

I was playing wii sports on dolphin and turned up the resolution which made me realize that the lighting on the miis are not actual lighting but just textures made to look like lighting and I've wanted to replicate that on blender ever since. Basically I need the uvs of an object to always face the camera so I can achieve a similar effect. I've tried a lot of things such as drivers or playing around with the mapping node but the uv's tend to either not face the camera or they are broken and cut off. Does anybody know if there's a way to replicate this? I'm still somewhat new to blender so this ..read more

Blender and MPFB • Using blender for a chatbot

Hello! I am currently participating in a hackathon where my teammates and I are creating a chatbot for users to communicate with. We want to use blender to create a scene of a room where the chatbot is sitting and talking to the user. We are using python to write all the scripting for the chatbot. Is there any way to link the scene to our python code so the user can talk straight to the chatbot kind of like a video game? This would include a dialouge text box where the bot responds to the user after the user types to them. Think of it like chatgpt but with an anthropomorphized chatgpt in the b ..read more

Blender and MPFB • Can I adjust the 'mesh' for a cylinder rigid body?

So I'm trying to create a themed catapult animation for my 3d animation project and was following a tutorial on animating the target object (the spray can). When I set the collision shape to a Cylinder, the 'mesh' (idk what it's called) is set to only the upper half of the spray can, so when I animate it only that first half has the physics. Anyone know where I went wrong? Thank you! Statistics: Posted by gutta — Tue Apr 23, 2024 4:32 am ..read more

Yes, the file formats are the same and it works in the same way. The UX for installation is a bit suboptimal, but if you download a proxy mesh and place it in the proxymeshes subdir, it'll appear in the assets panel after a blender restart. proxymeshes2.png You can find the user dir by clicking (1). There you can navigate to the data dir (2). There you should find a directory "proxymeshes" (3). If it doesn't exist, then create it. Simply place the relevant files here and restart blender. Then you can equip the proxy mesh under "apply assets" -> "topologies library". As it is the same fil ..read more

Blender and MPFB • MBPF custom meshes?

In Makehuman it's possible to use custom character meshes. There even were some by default, like a lower poly mesh. And it's possible to create custom meshes oneself in Blender to use them in Makehuman. Is this possible in the MBPF Blender plugin as well? I get asked about graphics programs and machine requirements regularly since I build and refurbish machines for others to use. It does not matter which camp you choose, either Intel or AMD. However, know that the former has fewer workarounds and less heat. Thus, the Intel stuff tends to be more stable, even though the latter has better drivers and can go faster. If you want to run Blender on an Intel CPU with an NVidia GPU, it needs to meet the spec below for smooth operation. CPU: Any socket 1155 or later will do as long as there are at least four cores and eight threads. Go for a 2.4GHz mi ..read more

You should be able to do very basic stuff with blender with a computer with these specs, but it will by no means be a smooth ride. It is possible you will be able to create humans using MPFB too, as long as you don't use any procedural skin shader. But I'd really recommend at least twice as much memory and a discrete graphics card, preferably with an nvidia chip. Statistics: Posted by joepal — Fri Apr 19, 2024 11:59 am ..read more

Blender and MPFB • Re: Sculpting Question.

The basemesh (ie the human body normally) has quite a lot of logic attached to it, for example body morphs (ie the things that happen when you drag a slider under modeling). If you sculpt on this directly, you will likely mess up the logic of the body morphs, causing things such as having the eyes end up in the wrong place. The rig is fit to the base mesh via key points, mostly "JointCubes". You can see these if select the body, disable the mask modifier hiding the helper geometry and then select the JointCubes vertex group in edit mode. When the shape of the body changes, these points need t ..read more
