Australian Futsal sadly have to report the death of another major pioneer of the sport in Australia, Joe Brent. Joe passed away on Friday 18th August. Joe was born during World War II in Italy and after the war his family emigrated to Australia. He was an elite sportsman in his own right, representing Australia at the 1966 and 1970 Olympics as a weightlifter, which led to him taking on a role as manager of the YMCA Revesby. The U.S. Futsal moved its 37th National Championship to Las Vegas and the Westgate Event center was on fire with futsal! The National Championship, which was held July 14-16 at the Westgate Resort and Casino Event and Pavilion hosted 225 youth and adult men and women teams ranging from U8 – Over 35. Competitors from 23 state associations were present and ranged from Massachusetts to California and from South Texas to Michigan.
