A guy on another fly fishing forum who is from Pittsburgh, PA said there were lots of these around there yesterday. He speculated that they could have hatched on the Monoghela River, which mergers with the Allegheny River, both warm water rivers, in Pittsburgh. Caddis Larvae in Brackish Waters

I spent the last two weeks fishing an estuary for pink salmon. Here the tide backs the river up about 3/4 of a mile and in about half of that you can see the mixing of the salt and fresh water as the flow pushes upstream. While taking a break, I noticed a cased caddis larvae crawling on an embedded log. I didn't have a camera but it's case was of woody detritus. My friend, Byron Thomas, took the following photos on March 6, 2022 on the Deschutes R. in OR. Given the early Spring emergence, location, and these photos, any chance we can nail this down to the species level? Looks to me like a Baetidae of some sort, given lack of hind wings and two tails. Hatchpedia data for that time of year and location suggests it might be Baetis magnus - but the only photos for sub-imago of that species is a photo of the genus (generalized) so I don't have a good...
