As tradition, you know I made everything I wore on the trip. Here’s a line up of everything, PLUS a fabric haul and a quick travel vlog of our time there! Whew! Enjoy! Check out my Toronto travel vlog just below. Check out more details on my daily outfits below. I wore the Blanca flight suit by Closet Core Patterns on the first day. Here’s a link to my original post. The second outfit is just like this one ..read more

McCall’s 8380: Vintage dress sew along!

Hi friends! I have a new sew along for McCall’s 8380. It’s a vintage pattern from the 1940s. I sewed it up last week with this gorgeous seersucker fabric that I had in my stash. What’s cool about this pattern is that it really stretched my sewing skills. It has the original instructions and pattern pieces – so even though it was challenging at times, I feel even more confident in sewing vintage patterns. Check out my sew along here ..read more

Hey sewing friends! I made a denim skirt – and a sew along to go with it! This was my first time making a denim skirt, but I’ve made other denim pieces before. There was the denim jacket I made a few years ago, and I’ve made a few pairs of jeans over the last few years as well. In a nutshell, I’ve had some experience with top stitching and traditional denim patterns. Check out the sew along and let me know what you think, enjoy! xo ..read more

My Cottage Core dress! McCall’s 8312 Pattern Review

Hey sewing friends! I made this dress, Mccalls 8312 a few weeks ago – and I’m just getting around to sharing it on here. Forgive me! This dress has quite an evolution (and it was a bit trial and error) that I outlined and discussed in my recent pattern review. It went from having ties, to no ties at all. It went from midi, to a ruffle to full MINI. I even added a trim. Who knew I even had black trim in my stash? LOL. If you’re curious about my fabric, (or if it looks familiar) it’s an IKEA duvet cover that I bought from the thrift store last year. I used it to make a Simplicity dress last ye ..read more

My new Mimi G blazer! Simplicity 9714

Hi sewing friends! I recently made Mimi G’s Simplicity pattern 9714! It’s a wrap blazer that’s really on trend for 2023. This is new Spring pattern that comes with two views for shorts and pants. I didn’t make the pants that come with the pattern. Instead, I paired my blazer with the Pietra shorts that I had in my closet already…and simply bought the same fabric to make it a suit. I cut a size 14 which was perfect for me. The pattern came together quickly. It has set in sleeves, patch pockets with a flap (faux welt?) over the pocket. The jacket is also unlined which helps as well for ventila ..read more

Hi sewing friends! I recently went to a Bachelorette trip in Miami and of course I made all of my outfits! Not only did I document the sewing process for my clothes, but I took tons of pictures “on location” this weekend. This was my second time coming to Miami and just like before, the fashion scene was superior. I’m linking the videos from YouTube channel along with the pictures below. Let’s get into these looks. For Friday night went to Mayami restaurant followed by bottles and VIP at LIV. I decided to wear McCall’s 8339. I used a blush pink bullet textured knit fabric for this look. I prev ..read more

Pattern Review: Simplicity 9702 plus my first full bust adjustment

Hey sewing friends! I recently finished Simplicity 9702 view C and oh, the thoughts I have. Plus this was the first time that I did a full bust adjustment (FBA) on a pattern. I watched this really great video that references a similar pattern and I was able to modify it for my needs. I’m linking that here as well. If you watch the video you’ll notice that she adds gathers at the end of her bodice. To fit this dress, I made darts at the end of my bodice. I explain step by step my modifications in my pattern review. Here’s the video ..read more

McCall’s 7969: I hacked this pattern into a blouse

Hey friends! I recently made McCalls 7969 (for the third time since it’s been released). My first two versions were the dress, but this time I wanted to make it into a blouse. I wanted to make it black for a really classic look that can be worn in the day or at night. I had this linen blend fabric that I bought. It was 45 inches and I purchased 3 yards. All I can say is that I was cutting it close with the pattern pieces. I had JUST ENOUGH left for the peplum. I made the bodice per the instructions on the envelope. I avoided the interfacing on the bias bindings and did an edgestitch instead ..read more

I made a linen button up shirt with jeans!

I always tell myself that I should not make 2 separates in one week, but here am I doing it anyway. LOL. I made a button up shirt and a pair of jeans in one week and it’s about as stressful as it sounds. I had a very busy week, and honestly I just wanted to sew some things that I had on my list for the month. I wanted to make this button up shirt from this linen fabric that I picked up last Fall in Vancouver. I used Simplicity pattern 8416 and cut a size 20 (view A) which was way above my normal size range. That was deliberate since I wanted an oversized “husband” shirt. My plan worked and it ..read more
