Normal for Parklane mattress to be bowing within first few months?

Hello! First off, thank you so much for this community resource, it’s been invaluable to me in my deep dive into mattresses (man, I had no idea what I was getting myself into and now I feel like the princess and the pea hahah). We ended up purchasing a Parklane Hawthorne mattress (Hawthorne Plush - BedMart) and within the first couple of months it’s already bowing in the places where my partner and I sleep. Neither of us are large people, and in fact I’m quite small, so this is confusing to me. I see that they’re a manufacturer you admire but I’m also having difficulty finding them online to c ..read more

Inaccurate Discount Info

Hi there, I was interested in purchasing one of your mattresses. I went to place my order and it took the 15% off but not the $125 for my mattress. I used your online chat and they said the mattress underground offer is no longer valid. Just fyi, you might want to get that removed from the mattress underground website so others don’t get misinformed. I was looking forward to purchasing a mattress but I’ll have to hold off for now so I can budget in the extra $125 I thought would be discounted from my purchase price. Take care and hopefully I’ll be back soon for a purchase! 1 post - 1 participa ..read more

Side sleeper with low back pain - 200 lbs BUT weak muscle/tissue compaction

Hi all, This site seems like a terrific resource, so thank you for providing this helpful service. This is a general purpose question about mattress options for a (somewhat) unique need based on comfort/support. My need isn’t super unusual, but I’d like to be sure I get the right mattress beyond being “wowed” in the showroom. I’m replacing a 30-year old mattress so am still learning about new technologies and options. I’m a 5’10", 210 lb side sleeper with an old lower back sports injury for which I receive regular therapy. Despite my stats, my muscle/tissue composition isn’t the most compact ..read more

Naturepedic lack of tufting concern?
The Mattress Underground

On my journey like most here and feel strongly about being able to test drive in person. Visited the local Naturepedic store and found that firm/soft would do me well. The question I have is about the zippered cover, if it stretches over time or bunches on adjustable mattresses? Those questions made me realize that the mattress isn’t tufted so how are all the layers kept together? I have to say the mattress looked a little sloppy. At the same time, I don’t love the look of throwing a latex comfort layer on a mattress and using a protector to keep all of that in place either. 1 post - 1 partici ..read more

Looking for a cotton-and-wool cover/encasement for latex mattress in Canada

I have an Ikea natural latex mattress that originally had a zip-on cotton and wool cover (not a topper and not a mattress protector - a thick fabric envelope with wool batten. I thought it would be a good idea to launder it and that was not a good idea - it shrunk to about half size! Lesson learned - you don’t launder wool batten. So now I’m looking for a replacement high-quality cotton and wool encasement. Would an aireweave topper help with back sleeping?
The Mattress Underground
by JBR2022

I’m thinking of getting an airweave topper to make my mattress a little firmer to make it better for back sleeping. My mattress is medium firmness and I have trouble back-sleeping on it, I know I’m still able to back-sleep because I was able to when I slept at my aunt’s recently. Has anyone here ever used an airweave topper and know if it’s useful for that purpose? 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic ..read more

I already have a latex mattress for my primary residence master bedroom that I ordered from Arizona Premium Mattress about 12 years ago. We love this mattress. I’m trying to build another king latex mattress that is more economical for another master bedroom in a second home. I recently acquired a king Saatva Natural Latex Mattress Topper locally at a cheap price and trying to use it in this latex mattress build. Would the Sleep EZ Roma with the Saatva Natural Latex Mattress Topper be the most economical latex mattress currently available on the market? Please advise on what other options are ..read more

I once bought a latex topper, it wasn’t what I wanted so I returned it but it was a real struggle rolling it up and getting it back into the box. I want to try a firm aireweave topper, which is returnable. Does anyone know if it’s hard to roll up? It’s 2 inches thick and the specs are: * Cushion: Polyethylene 100% Quilt Shell: Polyester 55%, Cotton 45% Lining: Polyester 100% Mesh: Polyester 100% 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic ..read more

Mattress Protector that Won't Diminish the Effect of Memory Foam Mattress
The Mattress Underground

Hello, I recently bought a memory foam mattress and really enjoy the sinking in feel of it. When I put a mattress pad on it, it seems like that diminishes the memory foam effect I love. I have a Protect-a-Bed mattress protector, but I always sleep hot on it. I want to protect my new investment but need something that won’t sleep hot or prevent the memory foam from working. I am considering just putting a 100% cotton sheet under the bedsheets. There is no danger of pet urine, drinks spilling or bedwetting, I just want to protect it from body oils and sweat. I also don’t want to add a mattress p ..read more

Big surprises when searching for a good mattress after reading the guide

Hi all, I had many bad mattress purchases over the years and the current one especially gives us bad back in the morning, so I was very relieved when I found this website and its goldmine of information. I started to study the guide in details over a few days and then proceeded to try various mattresses in different shops, all local and owned by the manufacturer. And it’s at this point that I got a few surprises. I worked out that a latex comfort layer with a support layer of pocket coils would probably be a good combo for us, but I wanted to try them since I’ve never tried latex before. In al ..read more
