Competition base plates and springs (lifespan)

So i have a pair of Team AC Design g17 base plate, spring and follower kit.  We are new to the sport (USPSA) but not new to shooting.    The spring in one of my mags basically failed in our second match this past weekend.  It basically wouldn’t decompress and feed ammo.  Are these springs pretty much dead at this point?   I’ve seen other shooters disassemble their MBX mags to clean them and stretch their springs.  I’ve owned Glocks for 25 years and have never had to do this to my factory mags.   should i toss the spring and replace and if so what are the ..read more

<5 Pound Striker Spring Trigger Still Resets Fully??

I noticed today that the trigger on my 17.4 wasn't fully resetting.   I had to give it a little nudge forward to get the trigger safety lever to engage.   I replaced the striker spring with an OEM 5 lb spring and all is well.   The gun was experiencing no other issues such as light strikes.    Now I'm curious.   Does a 4 or 4.5 lb spring reliably reset the trigger safety?    (Obviously I've never run one.)   TIA ..read more

G17 gen 5 vs g47 gen 5 recoil and other questions

I was going to get the g17 gen 5 but saw the g47 which I hadn’t paid attention to before.  Does the g47 use g17 mags?  If you were going to use it in competition does one recoil more than the other?   I see the 47 has the g19 recoil spring so just curious.   Anything else about one vs the other you think I should know about?  I’ve always shot the g17 better than the g34.  Not sure why but I shoot it better and faster so the g34 is not an option.     Thanks for you help!   ..read more

Glock 34.5 double feeds

My Glock 34.5 double feeds. What is the cause of this? I thought I had it taken care of with tweaking my ammo and for 3 matches it never had an issue. The last week it did it once and today it did it 5 times. Using Glock and Magpul mags and my 125 HAP recipe with 4.6 Titegroup. Taper crimped using a Lee die. Now I’m thinking it’s something mechanical. What should I check next ..read more

New 34 Gen 5, reloads from Shadow 2 don't cycle

I got the 34 to off season train away from heavy guns to reinforce fundamentals, carry for varmint defense (coyotes always be after my goats/chickens), and the occasional hiking.   I would like to keep the trigger reasonably reliable, maybe some springs and a connector.   So, my 132 pf loads (124 gr coated lead, 3.9 gr N320, 1.100") I made for my Shadow 2 aren't cycling.  Doesn't move the slide enough to strip the next round.   Ya'll have more experience on this one, so should I just put some factory ammo through it and it'll break it in or buy a guide rod/recoil spring?&nb ..read more

I'm becoming a Glock fud....

So I've been struggling competitively in a way that I shouldn't be struggling. I mean, I've been performing terribly.... So I thought I would test things out. I have a g17.5 I use for competitions with a Zev slide, a Faxon TiN Match barrel, an Overwatch Precision trigger and a GlockStore tungsten guide rod (the type which is basically a platic OEM g5 recoil spring made from tungsten). I also brought my g45 with an OEM barrel and slide, but the same trigger and recoil spring / guide rod as the g17 (granted the g19/g45 version). And....   I shot four targets from a bag. The top left was pur ..read more

Help setting up a Gen 5 G34 for USPSA CO

I have a couple Beretta 92X performance pistols pretty nicely set up for carry optics but I carry a Glock G45 and decided it would be fun to shoot a Gen5 G34 in competition and surprisingly won an auction with a lowball offer so it all came together for me to try this "for fun" idea...   Thing is my Berettas are pretty nicely tuned for my 130ish PF loads and they shoot great. So I want to set up the G34 to shoot as nicely as possible..   I know these guns come with the double spring guide rod and are pretty heavily sprung to handle all kinds of ammo... so I definitely want to add ..read more

Hey Yinz Guyz,   Well after shooting Ruger pistols for 16 years(started with the P95 DC and then the SR9 which I loved) both in competition and concealed carry and having to take a break for quite a few years due to some medical and family related issues I have finally gotten the opportunity to come back to the competition universe and being that my nieces and nephews(who I have quite often) are all older and more mature I finally came to the "dark side" and purchased my first Glock.    With my nieces and nephews being younger back when I was doing this before  I didn't lik ..read more

Which Glock for CO/LO in 2024?

Hi all -   I’m a middling A class shooter who shoots mostly LO with a steel 2011.  I’ve liked the challenge of the lighter polymer striker guns and wanted to stick with Glock as a G26 is my main CCW.     So, I wanted some advice from Glock team about what the consensus is on the optimal for a CO/LO Glock with the current roster available to us.  Unfortunately, I don’t have access to these to test or compare side by side.     - G34 MOS - don’t need the long slide with a dot, may be too slow of a slide but shoots soft so less dot movement - G47 MOS - shorter re ..read more
