this saga started back around the 1st of October - have my newly acquired CZ 82 cerakoted and new grip panels added.....the "local guy", supposedly a cerakoter and gunsmith, did the painting and then himmed and hawed and over 2 months never did reassemble the pistol - so, I got a box of painted "parts", found a gunsmith in Tylet, Tx (about 30 miles away) and left it with him for a month - he couldn't reassemble it but did charge me $45 for ????? then my BIL who lives in Laredo, Tx suggested... I purchased a CZ82 from AIM Surplus back in October and, after seeing how it was built and putting a lot of rounds thru it, came to appreciate it mucho - except the painted on finish needed to be re-done. Decided to have it Cerakoted so I took the pistol to a local gunshop - they had it for 3 weeks and no work was started on it so I picked it up took it to another "guy" who is a gunsmith, FFL, Cerakote refinisher and has a small firearms retail facility - that was back in October and was... my CZ 82/83 saga continues.....(with a rant ..read more

like the 82 so much that I've got an 83 enroute to my FFL. the 83 will be designated, on paper, as my Wife's pistol (we do that just to keep score between the 2 of us ? ) my 82 is "in" being Cerakoted now (I have Walnut grip panels on order from Marschal Grips for it) - we'll decide on what to do with the 83 as far as refinishing after it arrives and I've had a chance to inspect, clean and shoot (to make sure it functions well ..read more

Warning when working on CZ 75 P 01.

Hello CZ friends. Being an almost decent shade tree gunsmith, I took my P 01 apart to clean up a very gritty trigger. I watched a couple of videos and felt it was a simple process. And it was UNTIL I allowed the pin holding the sear springs in the Sear Assembly to slide out during reassembly. I had to take the sear out and completely disassemble it in order to get it back together properly. I had to remove the pin holding the springs in place to get the sear out and parts dropped... I’m under the impression that the CZ-75 models come with a polymer guide rod. If this is true can someone tell me where I can get a steel guide rod for the CZ-75? A few months ago I purchased the Tristar S-120, a CZ-75B clone, mainly because I wanted an all steel framed double stack 9mm that was da/sa hammer fired. I have polymer striker fired pistols but I am still not 100% convinced that polymer would last me my whole life after years of abuse that comes with concealed carry. Today... Regretfully a nice CZ-82 was sold several years ago. At the same time I also had two Polish P-83s, and at least two 'actual' Makarovs: 380 Izhevsk and East German. Needed some cash for another gun. Looking forward to this first 83, and as long as it's reliable they are known to be), will be fun at the private club and for some carry next summer. It has very little of the external wear so evident with most of the "turn-in" 83s from Israel etc ..read more
