Bought a XDE

Let me start this long winded, unneccesary tale by saying that I prefer hammer fired autos. They were my introduction to pistols. My first gun was a Ruger P85. When I went into the Air Force I carried the Beretta M9 as Security Forces. When I left active duty my first duty gun was a S&W 5906 (this was followed by a 5906TSW). So I have history. Now for the last 15 years my duty guns have, with rare, brief exceptions been Glocks in .40 or 9mm. I love my Glocks, but I'm looking for a smaller... Bought a XDE ..read more

I think this pistol needs a longer name. But seriously I'm curious about this one. It's a compact 10 + 1 45 acp. I never shopped for a 45 that I could carry so I looked to see what's available & for me & it's this or the Glock 30S, about the same size. So, wondering if anyone has one & if so how does it shoot? Not in my budget until after Christmas & property taxes but my local range rents them & I plan to try this & the Glock 30S when I get time ..read more

Added another Springfield - EMP 3 inch

I have been researching compact 1911s for a few weeks. Not sure why. Just an iwanna with no particular purpose. Have plenty of guns to shoot, but anyway after a lot of reading I acquired a 9mm Ronin EMP 3 inch Saturday. Shot 100 rounds through it the same day. A fairly pleasant gun to shoot. About as snappy as my Walther PPS that I carry. Billed as the thinnest 1911 on the market, it is a pretty good fit for my hands. Although I handed a Colt Defender that seemed pretty nice as well along... Added another Springfield - EMP 3 inch ..read more

Bought a new Hellcat pro with the manual safety today. Loaded the mag with ten rounds of hd. Placed the pistol on safe and pulled the slide back and chambered a round. The slide fully closed and all looked good. Took off the safety and pulled the trigger. SNAP - no boom. Put it back on safety and removed the magazine and took out the round from the chamber. It had no firing pin mark. The second time I tried things the same way and it fired. Have you heard of this being a problem in the... New Hellcat Pro problem ..read more

Mil-spec vs my CMP Remington Rand

For me there was no competition. I acquired the mil-spec from a coworker recently and took it and the Remington Rand to local indoor range for some bigger bore shooting. More often then not I am taking my High Standards or 38/357 pistols and revolvers to the range. Have not shot the 45 acp options of mine in some time. The mil-spec was a good shooter with no issues using my reloaded ammo. The Remington Rand would only cycle with one magazine - gotta look into that - of the five I took with... It's a pistol I have always handled and liked. Not sure if there is anything there any different than my other 1911s that would really benefit me, but co-worker was wanting some money to address a new "I gotta have" CZ stainless. he sold me his Mil Spec Stainless with upgraded trigger for $650. Not a swinging deal, but not a bad deal. Was really supposed to be on the "no more new guns unless I sold one" with the wife, but forgot about a stash I had set aside. It is my only Springfield at...
