ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) are a collection of potentially traumatic events that occur during childhood that could result in increased risk of physical health, psychology, and social problems in adulthood. Handprints for Hope Luncheon

Our Handprints for Hope luncheon this year was held at the new Fayetteville Public Library’s Event Center. With almost 500 attendees and some very special speakers and guests. The first lady of Arkansas, Susan Hutchinson started off the lunch with a speech followed by keynote speaker, Razorback Gymnastics Head Coach and Olympian Jordan Wieber.  The Helping Hand awards are given to agencies, businesses, and volunteers who have gone above and beyond in their service to the center. Casey Atwood has been at the Children’s Safety Center since 2006. When Casey was in school, she majored in Social Work, and during her first internship at a Fayetteville public school, her supervisor took her on a tour of the CSC and she immediately fell in love. She got her second internship here and never left! In January of 2006, Casey was hired as an advocate and now runs the Prevention Program at the center where she offers two training programs. By Kinsey Garbett Giving Tuesday is a day recognized for inspiring generosity across the nation, and was created in 2012 on the basis of encouraging people to do good in their own communities. With Advocates AnnaFrances Paslay & Margarita Sanchez by Grace Reinhardtsen AnnaFrances and Margarita are two of the advocates at the Children’s Safety Center. Kappa Delta Raises Money For the Children’s Safety Center

by Kinsey Garbett Each year the Zeta Gamma Chapter of Kappa Delta at the University of Arkansas hosts a themed fall dinner, allowing the chapter to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA) and the Children’s Safety Center of Washington County (CSC). Kappa Delta donates 20% of these funds to PCAA and 80% to the CSC to support children both locally and nationally!  Kappa Delta has been hosting these dinners and supporting the CSC for about 20 years, each year with a different theme. Andy was building an advertising agency, Thompson and Murray, at the time of the start of the CSC and was looking for a local charity to support and work alongside. Get to Know Board Member Erin R. Moody In February of 2016, shortly after her move to the NWA area, Erin attended her first Dream Big Gala committee meeting with a friend who had brought her along. The Dream Big Charity Gala is the largest event that the CSC throws, with a circus theme, this is known as the most fun event in NWA with the most special cause!
