How-to kick-start your body’s lymphatic system to support immune health and naturally detox ??
What is our lymphatic system and what does it do?
Let us start with the word lymphatic, the root “lympha” is Latin for clear waters. So, essentially what we are speaking about is the “clear waters” system of the body. This is important to note because as humans, our bodies are made up of an estimated 60-70% water. Much like the cardiovascular system, the lymphatic system is a network. This network of ducts and vessels collect lymph from the b ..read more

Starting a new yoga practice can be transformative, but for many beginners, the first classes can be daunting. Unfortunately, there are not many learning environments designed exclusively for absolute beginners, and most people are first exposed to the practice in an open level class with varying amounts of explanation from their instructors. I have taught many beginner students, and over the years, I have identified some of the principles that beginners can start to implement early in their practice to ease their transition into open level cla ..read more

As much as we’d like to think of ourselves as independent and self-sufficient creatures, physiologically it’s not the case. This statement alone may trigger a lot of resistance, and understandably so. Knowing how interdependent we are may make us feel powerless, especially when others have no desire to consider our best interests. We may feel helpless, scared or angry. This integrative element is key to co-creating lasting changes. We are not aiming for instant perfectionism but rather a genuine willingness to engage with t ..read more

Yoga for Scoliosis is the outcome of my own experience with scoliosis. Over the years, scoliosis has revealed the contradictory character of my body. If I have learned anything from this condition, it is that two things can be true.
There are many truths that I have to hold:
On one hand, I can have a manageable condition that does not usually expose itself, and on the other, I can feel remarkably different than everyone else. My body can feel both restricted and extremely loose. I can be grateful that my curvature is mostly invisible in my day-to-day ..read more

These beautiful NYC September days have made me particularly religious about my daily walks to the East River. Like, get out of bed, get dressed, grab a coffee, and out the door type of rhythm. On one of my recent walks, the question popped into my mind:
“What is the difference between a response and a reaction?”
That one took a while to percolate. Then, over (more) coffee with a friend yesterday, the subject came up again. He’s got a fiery constitution like I do, where our reactions to our environment and our emotional states tend to be fast and strong. Having just finished up a climbing ses ..read more
