Hi All,   My family has fortunately been granted 189 Visa's. I note that there is an initial entry date on the visa but I have heard conflicting reports that this is no longer enforced on the 189 Visa. Is anyone able to shed some light on this?    Do you need to notify Immigration if you are not going to make it before the specified date? Do you need a valid reason as to why you cannot enter before this date?   Kind regards, Luke  ..read more

Hi all   We are looking into the immigration process on a 189/190 PR Visa. I am an electrician and qualify with the required points. Our main concern at the moment is that my wife is a type 1 diabetic. She has been a diabetic for over 30 years and is very healthy with no other complications, we also have a 3 year old daughter with no health issues. We do not want to go through the whole process spending lots of money only to find out right at the end that our visa is denied. Have any Diabetics on here applied for PR? Were you sucsessful?   Any help/advice will be appreciated.   ..read more

Just adding a link to a recent Supreme Court Ruling   A case at the Supreme Court http://www.saflii.org/za/cases/ZASCA/2023/97.html  relating to the provision that in South Africa that a person who does not first obtain the Minister of Home Affairs’ permission to retain their citizenship, would automatically lose their South African citizenship when they voluntarily and formally acquire citizenship or nationality of another country.  The Supreme Court of Appeal in South Africa declared that: s 6(1)(a) of the South African Citizenship Act 88 of 1995 is inconsistent with the ..read more

South African Psychologists Be Warned

I have received a negative skills assessment from the Australian Psychological Society (APS). I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with the HPCSA and completed a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology through Stellenbosch University (graduating in 2004). APS need to recognize 6 years of study for a positive assessment. My 6th year was a full-time internship at an academic hospital and I completed my research thesis during the same year. APS are not recognizing this 6th year. I don't seem to be the first one encountering this problem - a colleague who did her Masters at UCT also received ..read more

Good day    We have started the process of immigration; I have received a positive skills assessment from the ACS, and I will take the PTE test early Jan. We will then proceed to submit our EOI.    So many questions and I assume most of them have been asked on this great site, however I'm struggling to find answers so I'd rather ask them in my words.    I was hoping that ex-saffas that have immigrated recently could perhaps share a breakdown/checklist of everything that needs to happen. We are applying for a 491 visa as I have family living in Perth.    ..read more

I rarely hop on this forum nowadays as nobody was allowed into or even out of Australia (if you were an Australian citizen travelling on an Australian passport) for a couple of years. Now that we are passed all the Covid requirements .  .  .  .  . and there were many requirements just to get into Australia .   .   .   . we are open again. As I sit in my lounge room and hear the latest news reports and read the newspaper articles online, Australia is trying to make up for the two years we had no migrants entering into this country. If you are tired of the inse ..read more

RSA Passport validity for AUS Citizenship Application

Hi all, we're about to be eligible to apply for AUS citizenship in the next month and have just realized that our son's passport is expiring at this December. Does anyone know what the passport validity requirements are for citizenship applications? As in does the passport need to be valid when applying for citizenship or should it be valid throughout the entire process? Theoretically we could apply at the end of the month when we become eligible with about 2 months of validity left on my son's passport. We'll obviously for a new RSA passport for my son but it does take quite a while for it to ..read more
