I was in Walmart this morning and noticed that the ammo shelf was full of .22lr. I have been out of the loop for about a year not paying attention to ammo prices and availability. Is this a good time to load up on .22lr before the next shortage ..read more

Does S&W have a website listing DOM for a Model 41? I'm roaming around the internet and see various forums that request your serial #. Sorry I'm not plugging a serial #. I want to view serial #s on a S&W website. I will say that my model 41's # starts w/"TAF". Can anyone help ..read more

Range Day With CZ 457 Varmint

A most excellent day for shooting, with Mother Nature giving it here best to provide a perfect time. No wind, temperature in the low 80s and not a cloud to be seen. Set up at 50 yards and zeroed in my new Bushnell 4 X 16 50mm scope. It's a good scope, not the best but in my price range for now. I can see the small 10 ring on The Moster target and can spot my bullets so it's good for me. I tried a variety of SK ammo including SK Standard Plus, Rifle... I am using .22LR to make blanks that work quite well. Remove bullet; retain powder in casing; seal end with soft wax. The wax keeps fouling down. Clean barrel and cylinder about every 5-10 rounds ..read more

I realized today I had no small 22. All mine are full size big and heavy models. Want would happen if you were tooling thru the woods and your main piece failed. It would be like having a flat tire. In which case you open up the trunk and pull out your spare. I think similar concept will work with small 22 pistol. Of course I’m full of poo but that what I’m telling the old woman. Would you believe this is tax day, wife’s birthday and her and daughter on way to Arkansas to visit for about... Emergency Pistol Purchase ..read more

Drove up to the range today and it didn't look like it was going to be worth the trip. Seeing the flag fully unfurled in the wind conditions seemed to be difficult to say the least. After paying and Seeing so few shooter the Range Master explained that the range had been closed do to wind. It was so heavy 9 target frames broke and few around the bay. It just calmed down to 15-20 mph and heave gusts. Targets had to be set past 15 yards so that no one could get hurt. I set up at 50 yards... Pleasant Surprise Even In The Wind ..read more

Picked up another piece of finely made firearm. Got a Browning Nomad, this is the original model. Blue and black plastic grips. Not as fancy as the Challenger II , same running gears as the Medalist. I had several Nomads & Challengers all but one had 4” barrel, should have kept that one. Also a little icing on the cake was 3 magazines. Two are original Browning, other is 3K ..read more

Picked up an Armscor 1600 the other day for a bargain and was intrigued by it. Imported by K.B.I. Inc. of Harrisburg, PA; manufactured in the Philippines. Designed to look like an M16. Ran 1 magazine through it with no issues. Plan to have a longer shooting session with it soon. I like experimenting and figured this would be a good one to try, so I stripped off the black lacquer down to bare wood grain. Oiled/stained it. First picture is what it looked like when I got it, second picture is... Armscor 1600 ..read more
