Sigh. So some of this comes from reflection on the "art of learning" thread nearby. I often go on and on about what competition shooter can do, and we hear a lot of what military shooters can do, and snipers of all types, but when it comes right down to it, the average person with a little gumption can raise themselves to a very high level of marksmanship with nothing more than a simple .22 and several pounds of ammo. Long rifle marksmanship is about learning to shoot a rifle--any... Rimfire marksmanship and what it can accomplish ..read more

You know by now that I'm a focused match shooter. I average 98/100 and know I could do better. Anyway, one day I came back from the range after a bad day, and one of the guys I'm assisting had also had a bad day. I decided to see how little it takes to mess up a good shoot. People think shooting between pulses is over the top, but then you see how such a small thing can ruin your day. We've all had days where 'our shots are all over the place' and our grouping has gone to... Bad day at the range? Cheer yourself up - You're not that bad ..read more

How's your neutral position?

I once shot 92/100 at a single target with a prone, slung bolt rifle. Nothing too amazing there, it's an okay score. The thing is, I did it blind.* I got into position. I zeroed in & shot a few sighters. I then went through a couple of checks & finally had a hat pulled over my eyes. Then I fired 10 shots. If you have a good neutral position, then this is nothing amazing. It should be easily attainable. You should be able to shoot groups blind as... How's your neutral position ..read more

I took my Dad's 80 year old Winchester Model 69A out to play today. My Dad passed away in 1979 and I grabbed it. He got it in 1939 when he was 10 years old. It has been meticulously maintained every since I got it. When I got it there was some minor pitting on the end of the 24" barrel so I took it to a gunsmith. He removed the pitting and finished the metal in a mirror blue. I took the stock down to the wood and refinished with new walnut stain and 8 coats of Tru-Oil. I had the gunsmith put... Hi all I have a CMMG ar 15 22LR conversion kit and a AA glock 17 22LR conversion. My CMMG has eaten pretty much any ammo I use, but the AA is very picky and only cycles with mini mag CCI. My question is this, if I were to get a dedicated 22LR pistol or rifle is the only safe bet to get bolt action to use any ammo? I have a ton of CCI standard velocity and federal bulk. I just fear investing in a cool gun and then not working ..read more

I shot the NRL22X match at Gunsite Academy and took 2nd place out of 28 shooters. Targets from 90-402 yards, moving targets and a dueling tree at 216 yards. The Vudoo preformed perfectly shooting Lapua Center X. Drop at 402 was 20.2mils If you get a chance to shoot one, do it! Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk ..read more
