when i was 13yo i was given by my parents a Marlin m25 with an "expensive" 4x factory scope ? in 22LR. the scope did werk for about a year, but i missed a turkey that was 15ish yards away from me. turns out, every time i shot it, the elevation turret would go 1 click up. being a calm and responsible kind of guy, i took the scope off and threw it against the sidewalk many, many times. i still took it out hunting and target practicing with open sights. next year, i had an "expensive-newish" 4x... inexpensive 22LR that is accurate ..read more

I needed a new rifle. Seriously, I did. I put my CZ on Gunbroker, swappable threaded barrels cost more than the new Ruger, (by 2X). The CZ was not in the accuracy class as my M93 savage, with any ammo I have on hand. One had to go. I'm ramping up to hit the woods next fall with a suppressor and a IR scope. Calling foxes and coyotes after the sun is down. My first suppressor, and first IR Scope. I was going to go with a Ruger Suppressor... New .22 WMR Ruger American Rimfire ..read more

Yuck weather, but still took the 1022 for range day today along with my Heritage 9" with red dot. I am still at 25yds with the 1022. I will need a little better trigger pull than it has right now to go farther out. The Henry is ready, but not the 1022 yet. My eyesight was decent today with the slow release steroid shot that I received last Thursday, but without magnification. Dot sight gets me to around 12.5yds max, rifle or pistol ..read more

Brought this home the other day. Put a 4X scope on and played around at 25 yards for now. Looks pretty good. Have had 2 storms here. Blew the snow in 20 to 30 inches deep all along my range. Will be awhile to do farther. Although 50 may be cleared soon ..read more

NRL22 Base Class requirements?

I have a CZ 457 MTR 22 LR that I put an older M8 10x Leupold on. The scope is from 1974 & I gave $200 for it, which puts my rifle/scope combo well under the dollar limit to be in the Base Class, but how does NRL rules compute the scope's value? There is no "retail" value for the scope like there would be for a current manufactured scope. Would I be forced to shoot in the Open Class for using a vintage scope in their competitions or is this something that isn't covered in their "rules"? Went... Nice day for shooting indoors, weather kinda sucks. I adjusted the redfield 2x7 rimfire scope on the 1022 today at 25yds. I not wasting any more rounds shooting without magnification past 40'. Groups fall apart past that. I have a cheaper pistol scope that I will try, but next 2 weeks the Henry and 1022 goes to the 50yd range and then my 22hornet and 357max NEFs get a turn. I have the Marlin 22mag ready for a outdoor 100yds range and hoping to have the... Senior range day-1022 at 25yds ..read more

Bought this rifle many years ago at a pawn shop in like new condition. Have made a many of guys with their hot rod target 22's.......Very Angry!!!!. This one shoots like no other 22 I've ever fired consistent 1/4 to 3/8 at 50yds, with good target ammo. The angry guys famous quote about my T-Bolt, The Da*n scope cost more than his rifle, it ain't supposed to shoot like that ..read more

I had the only stall being used at the standard 25yd range today. I shot the 1022 and Henry. I have pretty much switched to shooting lefthand now. Don't matter that much from a rest. So far the 12 power rifle scope I mounted on marlin 22mag bolt is ok shooting right, but it sucks to work bolt from left and unfun guns get sent to son from here on out. Right dot top is 15 rounds of cci hv at 25yd, red dot right bottom is backed to 12.5yd where I can see the 2" dot better. [ATTACH... Senior's Range day ..read more

What a beautiful day to shoot, no wind, temps in the low 60s and hardly anyone at the range today for the first hour. My friend and I set the target out to 50 yards. My first time shooting this distance so I figured anything could happen. I shot my Ruger 10/22 with the Clark 20 inch .920 barrel in a Stocky's Euro Stock. Got lots of compliments on how pretty the rifle is and some people thought these were descent groups. I think I still need some work... Did Some 50 Yard Practice With Latest 10/22 ..read more
