Great range day today. I have no justification why but my poor Challenger II has been wallowing in the safe for years until I decided to pull it out today. I forgot how slick this gun is. A great shooter all around. I need to acquire a few mags for it but I will definitely be taking it out with more regularity. Sometimes we get caught up with all the new whiz bang shit and momentarily forget the golden oldies like this gem of a plinker The 22/45 pictured has just been upgraded with the... After 10 years of kinda hunting (keeping my good eye out), I finally found a like new Ruger M96 lever .22lr in Indiana. It's on it's way. I probably paid too much, Chinese SKS money, but they're just not found in the wild anymore. It's my understanding that you can use 10/22 mags in a 96 but not the reverse. I guess the 96 mag is flat bottomed not curved. I'll need glass if I want to hit what I'm looking at. This lever gun has been on my list alongside a Ruger International stocked 10/22... I took the Savage M42 .22wmr/.410 O/U takedown out to sight-in the Bushnell TRS-125 red dot. Was able to get this 3moa dot sight dialed in after just a couple of shots at 25yds I also brought my wife’s S&W M317 kit gun 8-shot .22lr to put some rounds though it. Was able to keep in a pie plate group at 10 yds shooting fairly rapidly while standing.. some DA, some SA It sure is a lightweight gun… just 11.75 oz empty ..read more

This little single shot rifle sure is fun… shot it standing at 50’ today not bad for my old eyes and the iron sights I also brought along the 1954 Beretta 948 .22lr and the 1973 S&W Airweight Model 43 Both are equally fun but 50’ is too far for me to shoot those little guys (I’m not even going to show you those targets ..read more

Upgraded my Ruger MKIV 22/45 trigger today- now at 3.0lb pull

All’s well that ends well… I successfully installed the Tandemkross upgrade today and the trigger improved from 4.5lb (pre upgrade) to 3.0lb (post upgrade) per my wheeler gauge. It’s advertised to do better… but 3lb works for me. Maybe it will lighten a bit more once I shoot It more. the back story… - I have one part left over from the kit (that’s usually not a good thing)… I used only 3 of the 4 parts that came with the upgrade “blast pack” from... Potential 10/22 build - sticker shock

I've been shopping the last several days for components to assemble/create a fun, lightweight 10/22 rifle. I'm shocked at the high prices of components (receivers, barrels, trigger groups, stocks, etc). It will probably end up as a gift to one of my daughters (age 35) who often shoots with me... since I already have a 10/22 that I love to shoot. I'm not a guy after a precision rifle... I just enjoy the process of selecting various components that would make a good looking... Read more ..read more
