How much is your monthly grocery bill?

More curiousity because I don’t know anyone else who has IBS like me. I have found that when I first started living independently, my grocery bill was around $200 When I was diagnosed with IBS, that bill grew to $500/month - gluten free products, FODMAP diet, more meats & fish, etc. Because I’m now mostly broke (thanks taxes & medical bills) and try to get as much cheaper food as possible, my current monthly bill is $350 (with Hello Fresh or $300 w/o HF) I realized the price hike of food for people with these issues and people who don’t (my family). Whenever I come home for a weekend ..read more

How long do flareups normally last for you?

I have IBS-C which is usually very well controlled. I ate something a few days ago that I'm pretty sure triggered me, and now it's pushing Day 3 and it still hasn't cleared up. I rarely get flareups since I've learned how to manage it and what foods to avoid but when I do get flareups they never last this long. A day and a half at most. I took Miralax this morning and still waiting for it to work. I'm starting to get concerned. Is it normal for a flareup to last 3 days or more? submitted by /u/Winter_Journalist_23 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

A little about me, have allergies / asthma, have stomach pain daily, sometimes hurts more after a BM. Usually the pain is navel area and lower. No acid reflux in chest not much burping, do notice I can’t pass gas for the life of me. Stomach is not puffy or swollen. Multiple Bms a day, sometimes the pain doesn’t go away after. Lingering pain often daily. Had food allergy testing, no allergies. Maybe intolerance. Anyone else’s life similar? submitted by /u/PurpleSkyz2 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

IBS safe drunk snacks?

I rarely drink, and when I do, I feel insanely nauseas due to a gluten sensitivity for the most part but also insanely bad anxiety triggered IBS. I always have to eat something after even just one drink to soak up the alcohol, but now my go to carbs trigger my stomach and I end up just as if not more sick from drinking. What’s a drunk food snack that is IBS/fodmap safe that isn’t bread? submitted by /u/pastapastaaa [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Why

My main problems are nausea, stomach ache, and diarrhea. I have emetophobia. That’s hard. My stepson has a stomach virus right now. He’s isolated downstairs with my husband. I’ve been scared of catching it and only ate a little today but I’ve been drinking a lot of stuff to stay hydrated. I was starving. I had a couple bites of my food from McDonald’s and then shit myself. I’m afraid to eat anymore because I don’t want to throw up but I’m hungry. Why did my body react like that? Does it happen to anyone if you don’t eat much? I don’t know why it happened but now I’m worried that I have the vi ..read more

Vitamin B12 deficiency and gut health issues

I've been suffering with IBS-type symptoms since October '23. I've had a gastroenterologist visit and a colonoscopy (the results came back clean). I've been trying the usual stuff; peppermint pills, dicyclomine, probiotics, loperamide to varying degrees of success. Then I read some posts here and elsewhere about vitamin B12 deficiency and gut health problems (excess gas, cramping, bloating, diarrhea) and had the sudden realization that this could be my problem. I've been on a fairly strict vegan diet for 10 years and haven't been dilligent about supplementing B12 beyond the plant milks that I ..read more

Ideas to reduce amount of poop coming out - not IBS-D

Hey all, I have more like IBS-C but generally it's pretty soft, but it just keeps on coming. I also have a rectal prolapse which comes out when I defecate. My question is how to reduce the unbelievable amount of poop coming out...I've seen several other posts on here about this and it just seems like we don't eat anything (I am under-eating all the time per my activity level and weight) and just don't know how it is possible to produce this much waste... Does anyone have ideas to reduce the amount or perhaps a reason why? Even when I am not constipated and feeling like I'm having a great BM i ..read more
