Fatigue?

Does anyone else feel absolutely exhausted during a flare up?  All I want to do is sleep.  And when I DO sleep, it's deep with weird fever dreams (without the fever).  I don't know if the exhaustion is from the pain or the energy my body uses up from cramping and diarrhea.   I'm doing a low fodmap diet to figure out (hopefully) some triggers.  I already meditate, I've been in talk therapy for years and on an antidepressant even longer.  Fingers crossed ..read more

This may be a bit graphic but we all know!  I was told I had IBS when I was a child. Since then I've gone through years and years of these symptoms and they are just getting worse.    I cant seem to find my trigger point either. I ate the same as I did yesterday and drank the exact same up to this point in time.  I had no issues yesterday but today..   I had to run to the toilet twice as an emergency as I don't have much of a warning and it's just diarrhoea. The second I went to the toilet and it was water. It was so Runny and (This has happened a few times) I end ..read more

I started having a flare last month with constipation and it's been downhill from there. I am exhausted. I take align per my doc, Pepcid and Miralax normally.  I have added Mylanta. Also, some prunes, which work, but make things too soft....It does provide a bit of relief from gas and bloat and pain. I also have terrible pressure against my tailbone before I need to go to the bathroom and pain all the way down the canal to poop. the doc prescribed Hyoscamine (Levsin) but I have a tough time taking it.  It puts me to sleep and not in a good way.   It's been years since I have had ..read more

New here, hi everyone.  I have had IBS-D for over a decade now. It's had its ups and downs but generally under control with diet and as needed meds. It seems like lately I have been having major flare ups every few weeks. I'm starting to flare up now after just recovering from a flare so bad that I only ate bread for about a week and a half and was afraid to leave the house (I get violently ill and vomit as well). I have been fairly careful since then so not totally sure what the problem is. I guess I'm kind of just asking 1 for any general advice that has worked for everyone else, and 2 ..read more

My IBS-D seems to now happen every 1-2 weeks. Started in 2017 every 6 months or so. Got more frequent and bothersome over the years. Last month was bad losing more liquid than intaking every 4 days..  I ended up doing a stool sample to check for infection or any kind of virus AND one stool sample to check the pancreas.  No virus was detected and the Pancreatic Elastase came back at 800mcg. All Normal. I been doing so many tests and blood work and everything is coming out normal.  While it doesn't hurt to keep checking things (especially since my Dad passed from Colon Cancer) I h ..read more

Hi everybody,  4 years ago, out of nowhere a constant diarrhea started and it would happen 4-5 times a day. At first, I didn’t really pay attention to it. It was a soft stool and it felt good to empty out my bowels after meals. Then the secondary problem began which was anal fissure (tear) from constant bowel movements. 2 surgeries and bunch of meds later, my problem continued.  I have given up on any successful treatment or even diagnosis in US. Countless doctor appointments brought nothing but more frustration. I felt so helpless and sick.  I finally decided to seek treatment ..read more

Hello. I have IBS-C. It is just such a pain and out of no where I can have a flare up. Yesterday, I felt a little off but had breakfast and a pretzel for lunch. I was fine. I took my IBS Guard, the peppermint one around 1pm. Then I met a friend for tea and I had a blueberry muffin at Dunkin. I knew when I left it would be down hill from there. I felt a little nauseous and took 40mg of Pepsid. I could hear my stomach sounding off like it was the 4th of July. I fell asleep for about 30 minutes and then went to the bathroom. I knew once I would go, it would be on the road to recovery which I was ..read more
