The snowbike conversion kit which could have violated intellectual property laws. (MTN.Top/)
Polaris is suing MTN.Top, a snowmobile accessory brand founded by Allen Mangum, alleging intellectual property violations. Mangum was the original owner of Timbersled, another snowmobile accessory brand that Polaris bought in 2015. Mangum worked for Polaris until 2020, when he left to form MTN.Top.
MTN.Top has the same concept as the original Timbersled brand, which is making mountain snowbike conversion kits. Since Mangum left Polaris to start a company that competes with the brand, Polaris is suing ..read more

Textron is recalling the Arctic Cat Alterra 600 and Tracker 600. (Textron/Arctic Cat/)
Arctic Cat parent company Textron Specialized Vehicles is recalling the Alterra 600 and Tracker 600 all-terrain vehicles because of a crash hazard. The recall alert warns the A-arm suspension brackets can crack, which could cause them to separate from the chassis and frame. The Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends that owners park their Alterra 600 and Tracker 600 ATVs until they can be inspected by a certified Arctic Cat dealer, and repaired if necessary.

The final design after various tests and modifications. (Brick Technology/)
Weight distribution, locking differentials, suspension, and even tire tread patterns all come into play when off-roading, but wouldn’t you like to be shown why each one is important? The YouTube channel Brick Technology, whose main content revolves around teaching science and engineering with Legos, recently posted a video explaining a variety of off-roading techniques and principles with the popular children’s toy.

Last year, Honda was kind enough to send us a 2022 Honda Pioneer 1000-5 Trail Edition to test, and we spent a solid few months putting it through the wringer at our Virginia woodlot property. We came away pretty down on the Pioneer 1000-5, despite its eager powertrain and decent capability. In the end, we thought it was just too compromised to make sense for most users. There were also a raft of small annoyances that drew our ire.
But this year, Honda tossed us the keys to the all-new 2023 Honda Pioneer 1000-6, which rides on the same platform as the 1000-5, but has proper seating for six adul ..read more

Nobody wants a broken rig. (Polaris/YouTube/)
Few things let down a weekend on the trail (or day working on the farm) like broken machinery. As far as UTVs have come, they still have mechanical vulnerabilities that don’t require thrashing on the vehicle to expose. Polaris knows its own RZR XP has its limits, or at least admits that the owners may push the side-by-side beyond the breaking point of the stock components, so it put together a new episode of Shop Talk to inform and educate about the ways to improve the UTV’s durability. The video covers the basics, like skid plates and meatier axl ..read more

The 2023 Can-Am Outlander has brought fresh blood to the midsize ATV segment, packing arched A-arm suspension front and rear, the same solid transmission as found on the X3 side-by-side, and a host of clever improvements over the outgoing model. While die-hard fans may lament the loss of the old V-twin engine, the new Rotax single is more than up to the task of having a good time. Check out the photos from our time behind the bars in New Mexico.

Make hammock camping easy for your next outdoor adventure. (Hive/)
If you’ve ever used a hammock, you know how difficult it is to find the perfect two trees from which to hang it. Also, if you want to use it in places like a beach, an open field, or just the middle of your backyard, then you’re pretty much out of luck. Hive is hoping to solve those problems. With their Kickstarter-backed product, the Hive Hammock Stand, you can set up sturdy mounts for your hammock anywhere.

Rad Customs’ rear seat brackets for the Honda Pioneer 1000-5 allow you to mount Polaris RZR seats in place of the uncomfortable stock units. The Polaris seats unclip easily so you can go back to using the utility bed. (Rad Customs/)
Rad Customs LLC is a one-man shop out of Idaho run by a dude named Jerad Reichel, who designs, builds, and sells some really trick kits for the Honda Pioneer 1000-5. By far the coolest thing in Reichel’s inventory is a pair of seat brackets for the back seat of the 1000-5 that allow you to run Polaris seat bottoms.

The Polaris Factory team is here to win. (Polaris/)
It’s hard to believe how far we’ve come from 2014, when Polaris revealed the first sport side-by-side, the RZR. It single-handedly changed how side-by-sides were perceived; going from simple, utilitarian workhorses to off-road monsters. UTV racing followed pretty quickly behind, and now UTVs are stalwarts of global racing series and attract seasoned pro drivers as well as grassroots amateur racers.
Until recently, side-by-sides couldn’t keep up with professionally built trophy trucks and rock-crawlers in events like King of the Hammers and t ..read more
